• Mothers Warning
    By Krista Clifton

    Anger is a dangerous thing,
    My mother warned.
    It will change you into
    Someone you don’t even recognize.
    Jealousy, hatred, shame
All wrapped in one grotesque mess
    With an ugly cover.
Your face will become a bright red hue
And will burn as you become more upset.
The heat from the hatred becomes a hindrance.
Anger is a puppet master in this cruel world,
    You are his toy
    Who he plans to destroy.
In a furry that could match a hurricane,
Leaving only broken fragments of life and fear.
    My mother warned,
    Anger can be scary.

    Anger is a scary,
    Like my mother warned.
It has left only fragments of my life
    and crimpling fear.
In a furry that could match a hurricane,
He has achieved his one goal to destroy.
    I was just his toy.
Anger has and is the puppet master in this cruel world
    I call home.
The heat from my hatred is a hindrance.
My face burns with a bright red hue
    The more upset I become.
And ugly cover that hides a grotesque mess
    That’s wrapped within.
    Jealousy, hatred, shame
I have changed into someone I don’t recognize,
Morphed into something I don’t want to be.
    Like my mother warned,
    Anger is a dangerous thing
