Week Nineteen: Overnite Sensation Holy crap, this is the featured journal now! Is that good or bad? It's a little bit of both. We have some new folks reading... So let me in-tro-duce myself My name is Fleep. Pronounced like a sheep. As many of you know, I'm a developer (dev for short) for Gaia Online. I started working here on July 5th, 2006 and ever since I've been keeping a journal of what it's like to work at Gaia and life around the office. I update this journal every Friday, so keep an eye out! I wrote Daily Chance and I'm currently working on a Top Secret Project which hopefully will be released next week. (Some Gaians are trying to guess what it is. Fools!). Flash Flood! So, this is the spotlight journal or whatever it's called, and suddenly I'm getting a hojillion profile/journal comments. Just a warning, I may not be able to respond to your comments as quickly as I used to be! What is... "luff"? Thanks to all the Gaians who poured their love into this thread. It means a lot to us to hear something other than complaining rofl Every once in a while (especially recently, thank jeebus) a Gaian PMs me to tell me, "Thank all the admins for me!" (A) You're not the boss of me (B) Do what I tell all the other Gaians: start a thank-you thread, or post in one that exists. It makes us very grumpy when we only hear people moaning and groaning. So if you thought we did something right, tell us! We already know what we're doing wrong crying No, YOU the Man Some Gaians wrote an open letter to Craig, our CEO. Some users are afraid he's a monster, a money-grubbing, baby-eating, corporate suit who wants to suck the blood out of every living thing he comes into contact with. No, he's much worse than that! Actually, Craig is at least partially responsible for a lot of the great things that have been happening at Gaia. We're fixing bugs AND releasing new features, and we're a much more efficient team than we ever were before. All he asks in return is our love of Gaia, a dedication to our work, and a daily serving of infant flesh. Yay or Neigh? This week's weekly comic has to be the funniest one yet. Some users thought it was a bit too much, but I'm sure they said that AFTER they laughed their asses off. (I think there was an alternate version of the comic too... but they decided to go with the more mature one eek ) Forget the Survey: Real Gaia Bribing Controversy! If you've read my past journals, you know that we here at Gaia play the sport of kings. We have a passion for ping pong, and we've developed several house rules and games (including a game called "Bodycount", which might be too violent for this journal). One of our house rules comes from when we're playing short games of 5 points (when there are a bunch of people waiting to play). In a normal game of ping pong, people switch serves every 5 points. Since we're playing such short games, we play "whoever gets the ball gets to serve it". Sometimes a bystander will pick up the ball, and will be stuck with the decision of who to give the ball to. Out of desperation to win, the opponents will sometimes try to bribe the bystander: "If you give me the ball, I'll give you 150,000 Gaia gold." "Deal!" Certain Gaians have worked up some pretty bad debts this way crying Oops, I dropped a name I've gotten a bunch of PMs and comments from Gaians telling me they're my #1 fans. You can all be, collectively Fleep's #2 Fan. #1 will always be Sgt. Pepperhat, who laid claim to the #1 fan title a long time ago (and also happens to draw a really funny comic involving me rofl ) I also want to direct you all to The Gadmin Project, another story by the ever-prolific Cid High-Wind. I really appreciate people who generate content on Gaia on a regular basis. Finally, I want to give props to Xya for her fantastic, unsolicited work in the Site Feedback forum, and especially her exhaustive Gaian Item Project thread. Users like her make Gaia a better place for everyone. If every user who complained about Gaia did a little something to contribute (because, really, it's you who make Gaia great, not us) then Gaia will be better than '03, better than '04, better than ever. 	I just recently started reading your journal as I hadn't known that any of the admins or devs were actually keeping an up-to-date one. XD I just wanted to say that I apreciate the fact that you are willing to keep us updated on things even in the smallest way. ^^ You guys don't get enough pats on the back but you deffinitly deserve it. 	You know what's scarier than a clown who's never brushed his teeth, or a guy in shiny colors with fists of light that mean pure doom? Corporate guys in suits. ;-; It's true! Ping pong is the sport of kings? 	o,....m,...g,..SO MANY COMMENTS xd Nice journal by the way, I got a complaint, and a praise! 1. anything to do with a house is officially never an oppition(complaint) 2. I love the way that we can move about the site so easy! The profiles, the GAMES, the objectives, there is even gaia royalty and popularity! Pretty cool.

	I never looked at the comics much but you are right this one is funny. (your good at convincing lol i think the link made it easier becuase i would have been to lazy to go all the way to the first page and click on the comics then wait for it to load just to see if the comic was funny or not >.< wink oh and I like the picture of the little fluffy yet grumpy puppy.

	Seems like of all the journals that've been featured, yours is getting the most comments out of it. Of course, I never check the others, really... If Sgt. 	sigh so many comments these days. Its bad enough that you're a developer, did you really need a journal feature? crying Gotta love those sharks with the lazers. By far the most evil invention out there. I was one of those who took the comic a little far, but for comical reasons! Lots of people made a big fuss about it, so I made this topic which basically lead people on to think I am PRO-BEASTIALITY. Sometimes the GCD needs to lighten up and laugh. (Most of them didnt though eek )

	adds the bazillionth comment Fleep, I think you have so many fans because of your active involvement in both roles. We always appreciate new developments its true, but we also respond well to someone who is actually in the community, posting among us. Taking time to return PMs or comments. It's very special. 	Fantastic journal, Fleep. I really like how you add a link to a picture when you're describing something. That's very creative. 	Man. Bodycount? You'll have to explain that to me some time. That's gotta be some brutal ping pong playing by you guys. I can imagine the ping pong ball flying all over and bribes being yelled out constantly. xD Brunosmad is gonna be like negative 3 million gold if he's not careful. I really enjoy clicking the links in your journals. The pictures make me laugh, especially the one of the shark with the laser beam on his head. LOL. Sgt. Pepperhat is lucky to be your number one fan. I read her comics a lot too. She's got some funny ones, and I LOVED the Gaia comic this from this week. 	Hi! I'm a first time reader! will subscribe immidiatly after commenting This is a very exciting journal! I will deffinatly read again! but as I am terribly shy, you probably won't get another comment from me... I love gaia and have been playing for a little over two years... my distant cousin (won't get into how distant) introduced me and it was love at first site!(haha....sorry..>.>...) I'l' admit gaia is glitchy at times, but it's got to be hard to keep all of the systems and features running properly! It's impressive what you guys have done and I love all the admins and developers and such for their hard work! KEEP IT UP!

	Wow. Just reading a journal entry like this makes me even more excited to be on gaia. biggrin I started gaia not knowing what I was getting into. And now my love of it has progressed. I might not post as much as I want to, but I still enjoy coming on here. I can almost always find something to entertain myself with. 	You make me laugh. ;D. You guys' ping pong sounds like my friends and me. When we play, we basically dive to the ground to beat eachother to the ball, no matter how dirty the campground is, and pay eachother to get it! ;D (it usually wouldn't go past 2 dollars though! ;3 ) And you know what? I am your FRICKING NUMBER 2 FAN THEN. o.O! Normally I would demand number one, but Sgt.Pepperhat has to be cool. Because the real Sgt.Pepperhat is. ;D --I'll draw you sometime. =O
