Here It Comes
Part 13
Matt lay in his bed for three days, vowing not to leave until Lindsey was found or more information was uncovered. On the morning of her fourth day missing, Lindsey's father recived another letter. Only this time, it was a randsom note. Matt was sitting at the top of the stairs, hiddend in the shadows of a house plant.
"They must have known about our wealthyness, but this is such a large sum! I don't think I even have this much!" He heard Lindsey's father say.
"Calm down Peter. Maybe we could help?" Matt's mother looked at him sypatheticaly. But Lindset's father shook his head.
"No, I don't think we could pull enough together... Thank you anyway..." Peter slowly shifted his glance to the front window. He sat there for a moment watching two children play on the lawn across the road. Their father was mowing the lawn whne his wife walked out with a pan of freashly backed cookies. The father wiped his brow, walked over, gave her a kiss and took a cookie. Both smiling they got back to work. Peter closed his eyes. It was still a painful sight, to see such a happy family like that. The one he always wanted, the one he could've had.
" Sandra wouldn't have wanted this..." He mumbled under his breath.
" What?" Matt's mother asked.
" We ahve to do something! We have to get Lindsey back!"
Matt jumped at the sudden noise of Peter's voice. Quietly he stood up and brushed offf his pants. He turned around and ran right into his brother.
" Yikes!" He shooted. He placed a hand over his mouth.
" Is everything alright Matt?" His mother called. Nic shook his head.
" Uh... Ya. Everythings fine. I just almost stepped on a spider..." Nic looked as though he was going to laugh, because he knew Matt wasn't scared of spiders. Nic brought Matt into his room. And they sat down together on the bed. It was then Nic started laughing.
" A spider?! Man, even I could've done better!"
"I know, I know... I had to think fast... Anyway why did you want me?"
"Oh, I just wanted to let you know that I am available 24/7 to you. You have my cell number, so call me if you need to. And don't tell mom you saw me, she thinks I'm away at Mike's for about three days."
"Oh, okay. Thanks bro." Matt smiled weakly. He knew his brother would be there for him. They sat together on the bed in silence for a while before Matt sighed,
"I have an idea on how to get Lindsey. It's dangerous, and I'm gonna need your and your friend's help. Do you think your up to it?" Nic sat there and said nothing. He looked as though he was thinking very hard. Matt didn't think he was going to say yes. But Matt hoped that maybe his brother would come through for him. Slowly he sighed shaking his head. Matt was very disapointed.
" You have this way of guessing what I'm going to say, and getting me into alto of things..." Matt had a little hope left in him, but it was slowly getting smaller.
"Okay. I'm in. What do I need to do?
