New Story People! Look for it!
As the title says, I'm starting a new story. Look for it peeps!
Midoriko's Story
"Midori-sama...?" Two small girls asked, timidly tugging on her sleeve. "When are we leaving?"

A thirteen year old Midoriko knelt and picked the twins up, smiling. She kissed their foreheads, setting them with the other children crowded around her. "Soon, Hiroko-chan, Tomoko-chan. Tonight."

A cheer ran out through the crowd of kids as they raced off to get their clothing and other things Midoriko had deemed neccesary for travel. She's asked them not to bring anything with them that'd remind them of the village. So they didn't, for the respect and love they had for her shadowed the trust they had for their own parents.

Opal, her brown haired, green eyed best friend in the village, looked to her. "What about your father? He is a powerful demon..."

"He will die too." She said simply, walking off.

Hours went by and darkness fell. The children had been playing in a field far from the village, watched by Midoriko's best friend here, Opal, as well as the other shape shifters. The adults thought that the children were going to pick the moon flowers for tomorrow's celebration.

She was waiting in her cabin for all the lights of the village to be put out. Two minutes later she saw the last light go out. She stole into the shadows, the blood moon shining brightly above. "Even the moon goddess is angry with me..." She whispered, lighting a torch and throwing it onto the roof of her cabin, lighting another and throwing it onto the village chief's cabin as well.

Panic took hold, the village's women and men racing out of their homes to see what caused this. Some of the men suspected her and that was fine. 'They'll just die anyway.' Midoriko thought standing ontop of her slowly burning cabin.

She waited... One of the village women noticed her and pointed, screaming. Midoriko just smiled in her new sadistic way and jumped down, "Raise! Shield!" A dark purple barrier appeared around the village, preventing anyone from getting in or out. Fires spreading. Panic taking over the senses. It was all too perfect for her.

"We knew we should've drown you!" One of the village men called, freezing when she came toward him, behind him in a flash and holding his head in a vice.

"Drown me...? Oh no. What ever would I have done except shift into a siren!" She growled, twisting his head in a 180 neck snap before gutting him with her katana, turning on another man and slicing his head clean off before dismembering his body. She raced through the shadows, hurling kunai into the hearts of the men first. "You who have tormented me and your children will suffer!"

One man tried to escape the barrier, a priest. Only to get thrown back, his entire body burning with purple flame. She stood over his writhing form. When she spoke her voice was mocking, "Sorry, your Priestness, but it looks like the fire you wanted to throw me in got you first. In the name of the moon goddess I sacrifice your heart to the flames."

She pierced his chest inches from his heart and carved out a perfect circle, taking delight in his sceams of pain. She removed the skin and grabbed hold of his heart, tearing it out and biting into it, revelling in the terrified screams of all that was left of the village folk, the women.

'Looks like I can take my time now.' She smirked as she made a loose wrapping motion around her arm, ropes of energy appearing. She went to the large oak tree in the middle of the village, the one that was thought to house the moon goddess herself. She sat in a high branch and started to make nooses out of the energy rope, it's glow becoming brighter from the power radiating from the tree.

"Almost dawn." Midoriko sneered, nooses for every woman hanging on branches on the tree. The village was still blazing strong but did not touch the tree. A special type of fire developed by her and Opal. She melted into the shadows and found the women huddled in a dark corner of the village. She smirked and decided to mess with them, flitting around and above them in the shadows, making them scream in terror as one by one they were dragged into the shadows and hung by the neck on the tree.

With her deed done, she let down the barrier and finished off the heart of the priest she'd wrapped in a cloth. "Delicious." She washed herself of the blood she'd gotten covered in, making sure she got the human stink out of her skin, hair, and clothes, before heading to the meadow and letting the village burn to the ground.

'I do not regret this. Not one bit.' She thought as she and the other shapeshifters took the sleeping children into their arms, taking them to respectable families in other villages. In masks and robes they knocked on the doors, pleading with the head of house to take the kids and treat them as their own. When they assembled, every child had found a home but Midoriko herself.

"It's time for you to settle, Midoriko." Opal said, having found a home with the twins, Tomoko and Hiroko.

"No. I can't. I have to watch over you all, make sure that you're safe for a few years. Then I'll take Tomoko with me and I'll find a place of my own." Midoriko said firmly. She may have been young, but she was thought the leader, the pride and joy, of the village shapeshifters. And when she said something, she meant it.

"You're sure?" A male asked, masked.

"Possitive." She smiled, nodding.

"If you do not find a place," A woman said stepping up, her hair in two high pigtails. "I will make sure that you settle down in a family."

"Thanks for the concern, Ayakashi, but I won't need it." With that Midoriko put on her mask again, raising her hood, and took off in the shadows, the other shapeshifters following suit.

((I got to thinking. How in the world did Midoriko come to be the way she is? Why is she so scared to get close to people? Well, here it is. Midoriko never did go back for Tomoko. And Ayakashi found her, as almost everyone knows.))
