Chapter One. ~*Surpise Meeting*~
A young, sixteen year old, Karin Maaka, walked though the hallways of her high school. A start of a new year had made the school full of new faces. Vampires, demons, and humans from around the world came to settle there. Karin always hated the human freshmen. Staring at the demons, and hiding from the vampires. They didn't belong. They never did. Or so Karin thought. Ignoring them all, she walked into the caferteria, smelling the odors of breakfast.

Chatter of hundreds of students filled the air and made it hard to hear. Karin walked up to the breakfast buffet. The smell of the food went right up her nose, making her gag a little. She covered her nose and mouth and quickly ran into the kitchen. It was much better in there. Karin looked to her right to see a large, steel fridge standing against the wall. Karin smiled and opened the fridge door. Inside were neatly stacked packets of fresh human blood. There was tons of different blood types in there; stress, liars, pride, saddness, etc. Hers' was misfortune. Scanning the packet labels she found a couple of misfortune blood packets. She grabbed two and closed the fridge door. Gently, she ripped open the first one and poured its contents into her mouth. A sigh of relief was let out as it hit her lips. Once she finsihed it, she threw away the empty packet and ripped open the second one. She poured it into a big coffee cup, put its lid on it, and headed back into the cafeteria.

The smell of the cafeteria food surrounded Karin once more. Quietly, she headed toward an empty table and sat down. She took a sip from her cup and sighed. Karin looked up see the sun, blaring through the windows and into her eyes. She held up her hand in front of her face to shield them. A vampire in the sun? Bad news. But for Karin, it was normal. She could be in the sun, and be fine around water and crosses. She held her head. Two words race through her head. Half Breed. Thoughts of her past had broken through the tightly sealed barrier. Karin was a half vampire.

When Karin had turned eleven, she had bitten her first vitcim, making her an adult vampire. Her parents were so proud that this happened at an early age. They said she was gifted. Her ability to control bats was beyond the normal standrd for an eleven year old vampire. But one morning, it all ended. Karin awoke, thinking she had to go to school. She had completly forgot about becoming an adult. Foolishly, she opened her curtains. A scream was let loose and was heard throughout their house. Her parents came running in and to their horror, they saw Karin on her knees and in the suns rays. Thinking her daughter was burning to a crisp, her mother fainted. But she wasn't. Her father stared in disbelief. Kairn looked up at him in tears. Softly she said, 'I'm banished....Aren't I?'

"Hello there," a voice said, interupting Karin's thoughts.

Karin jerked up to see a sliver-haired girl by the age of thirteen sitting beside her. She held a creepy looking doll in her hand, which had a kitchen knife in its hand. She almost looked like her sister, Anju. She shook her head, getting rid of that thought. It couldn't be her. She was a full vampire. Or so she'd been told.
"H-Hey..." Karin replied.

"Are you okay?" the girl asked, "You seemed out of it..."
Was I that OVIOUS?!?! Karin screamed in her head.
The girl tilted her head to the side as Karin made a weird face.

"Oh. Sorry. Nah, I'm fine..just thinking.."

The girl nodded.

"Thinking about what?! School?! Boys?!"
Karin stared at the doll. It spoke to her.
Oh my god!!! That thing just....talked!!!
Her face had an disturbed look on it.
The girl clasped her fingers on the dolls lips.

"Shut your mouth, Boogie-Kun. Oh and that reminds me. I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Anju. Anju Maaka."

I've always thought of Karin's last name as Marker. But that can be left up to interpretation. Besides, the whole Maaka = Makka (blood-red) wordplay is too fun to pass up.
