CHAPTER 2
WHILE SHE WAS GONE
(While Shadow was down at the mountain base, this is what happened back at Shagon...) Everyone was doing their daily routine peacefully. Children playing happily outside and parents doing their chores. When all of a sudden the sky darkened, thunder boomed loudly. Children running for their parents terrified, and the parents rushing their children indoors. More thunder was booming and huge bolts of lighting streaking across the sky. Then black and red shapes appeared in the sky, and came closer and closer. Soon they became close enough for people to see, and what they saw were huge dragons. These dragons landed in Shagon, doing nothing but standing there. Then the leader of Shagon, Thunder Star, approched what seemed to be the leader of the dragons. "What is your buisness here dragon?" asked Thunder in a clam, yet demanding voice. But the dragon said nothing in reply. "What is your buisness here dragon?!" he asked again in a more demanding voice with anger this time. The leader dragon gave a great roar that sounded like the thunder that was still booming. Then all the dragons roared and started to attack everything around them.
People scattered as the dragons demolished homes. Many of the older and braver people fought back with swords and bows. The mothers tried to protect their children or try to escape Shagon. But only two people escaped, two teenage girls about the same age as Shadow. They were Pearl and Crystal, they were twins and they got away only because they were already on their way down the mountain when the dragons came. Other than them no one else could get away from the dragons' wrath. The battle was fierce, everyone who was fighiting fought like mad beasts to protect their families and homes. Many of the people were killed or badly hurt, while less than half the dragons were wounded.
All around the village swords clashing against claws, roaring and screaming, and the thunder could be heard. The dragons were too powerful and outnumbered them 1 to 10. People still tried to escape but were not quick enough. Soon the poeple of Shagon could no longer hold off the dragons, they were badly hurt and were growing very tired and weak. Then the dragons had the upper hand, they easily killed everyone. After everyone was killed the dragons destroyed the rest of the village of Shagon. The dragons looked around at the destroyed village and then they all flew off... (About ten minutes after that is when Shadow came up to what was became of Shagon. )
