After a long, groggy period of unconciousness Morgule awoke.
Morgule groaned and tried to shake herself awake, only to find that she couldn't move very far. Her eyes popped open as she recalled the last thing she remembered: fighting the intruding male and suddenly seeing a dragon with a small humanoid being on it just before the other sphinx started to fall....then there was a bright light and an explosion...
Then her eyes registered what she was seeing, and why she couldn't move very well. She had been chained. To the ground. Inside a stone-walled cell with no natural light and very stale air.
The anger and outrage boiled up inside of her and began to spill. Her body almost burst into flames, except that there was an enchantment in the cell that negated her magic. This only served to infuriate her more.
She inhaled deeply and let out a furious roar that reverberated down the hallway, forcing anyone nearby with ears to kneel down and cover them. She began throwing herself against the metal links that held her, furiously trying to break loose. Guards came running, and she turned her head towards the door to Gaze them, freezing them in place. Yet they stopped before they could get in her line of sight. She was roaring at the top of her lungs, demanding that they free her. et she also listened inbetween her outbursts as that was the only time they could hear each other speaking.
"My Lord, you cannot be serious..." said a concerned voice that sounded like it came from either an elf or a faery
"Of course I'm serious, how else are we supposed to control the beast?" here Morgule recognised the snoopy voice of the uppity centaur.
"YOU!" she bellowed "HOW DARE YOU! FREE ME NOW AND I WILL AT LEAST MAKE YOUR DEATH PAINLESS! WHICH IS FAR MORE THAN YOU DESERVE....!!!"
"Do it!" insisted the centaur
"Lord Hambor, please, this is against the law to have her as she is, I beg you to reconsider." said the elvish/fae voice desperatly.
"She is no more than a savage monster, and until she can learn to be civilized she will remain that way. She must learn she is only bringing this upon herself. And why are you defending her, she almost killed Lord Geren! She would have if Her Highness hadn't been there, thank the gods..."
"What are you doing??!!" said a new voice. This one sounded young, and horrified with the situation. "Are we no more than savages to you, Hambor? ARE WE??!!"
Hambor sounded genuinly shocked. "Lady Xiao, forgive me, I neve mean to imply that the sphinxs were savage. They are a true and noble race, I was merely saying that this creature..."
"She is of my own kind! And you treat her like this??!!"
"Lady Xiao, is this or is this not the...person...who attempted to murder Lord Geren, not to mention myself?" he said, totally not being able to comprehend what was wrong with the situation.
"It doesn't matter what their crimes are, all prisoners and criminals are to be treated with consideration! Even murderer or traitors! No one is chained up in a small space, NO ONE!"
"LET......ME.....GO!!" Morgule bellowed again.
"Take her to less confined space!"
"I will not move her anywhere until after the trial when the verdict is released..."
"I am ordering you to move her to somewhere with more space RIGHT NOW!!"
"Lady Xiao, wiith all due respect, you do not have the authority to make that decision."
There was a long silence. THen without another word, the sphinx who seemed to be named Xiao left angrily. When she was out of sight Hambor seemed to be waiting for something, then, when it didn't happen, he took matters into his own hands.
"No, sir, please!"
"If you are going to reduce yourself to insubordination, I suggest you at least withold from preventing me from doing what needs to be done!" she said sharply. There was the slight mutter of an incantation, which she tried to disrupt with another roar...
...but to no avail. Her eyelids were inexplicably forced closed, and she could not reopen them, thus keeping the guards safe from beign paralyzed. Now that they had nothing to stop them, she heard them enter the cell, then heard the centaur say another spell...and her voice went dead. She tried to roar and nothing came out.
"Sir..." said one of the guards weakly "Sir, that is unnecessary..."
"That's enough! Who is your supurios??!!"
"Y-you, sir"
"And who is MY supurior?"
The guard knew there were plenty of people who were supurior in rank (and disposition) to Hambor, but he didn't want to risk a wrong answer so he went to the top.
"Her Highness?"
"Correct" he said with a supiorior voice "I am doing only what she would have me do, so trust my judgement,"
He had moved around while he spoke. At the loss of everything but some movement and her hearing, she laid still for a moment, the seething anger practically rolling off of her in waves. Her hearing was excellent though, enough so that she knew the exact moment when Hambor moved too close...
The centaur screamed as the sphinx's teeth clamped down on his leg. Morgule relished the taste of the blood in her mouth.
There were a few minutes of chaos, as at first they couldn't remove her jaws from his limb, then something jolted her with enough pain that she finally let go. There was a rush of moving people around as some attended to the would while they all tried to keep away fromt the sphinx.
Then there was some more commotion coming down one of the hallways.
"What is going on here?"
The voice was almost a whisper, yet the anger rolling off of it made everyone stop and listen.
"Hambor, you fool."
"M-m-my Lady, I assure you..."
but then his voice seemed to give out.
"Out" said the new voice. No one moved.
"OUT!!!!"
"But My Lady..."
"Hambor. Leave. Now." she spoke in a voice that was almost calm. After that tone there were no more protests, just the sounds of suffling as people moved out.
Then the voice said a word, and Morgule felt the spell on her voice lift. Again she let out a roar of fury that lasted for she didn't know how long. Yet the young, female voice that despite the apparent age seemed to command so much power did not speak. Then the spell on her eyelids was lifted.
She didn't even take a look at the person in front of her before she released the Gaze. The roaring tide of the universe's mysteries came flooding through her eyes, letting her only see blackness instead of her surroundings. There was a small gasp from teh creature in front of her as the riddles of the universe poured through her, freezing her body where it stood...yet she did not struggle. Morgule heard two roars of concern from two sphinxs nearby, yet something restrained them from interfering, despite the fact the Gaze would not affect them.
Please...I cannot help you if I am frozen like this...
Morgule decided she wanted to see this creature, whatever insult the creature may have done. She closed her eyes to let the Gaze subside, then opened them to see someone, a faery, kneeling beside her. She turned her head to look at that face for the very first time....
