The first thing that she saw was the faery's brilliant green eyes looking into her own. Had Morgule been one to care for kindness she would have noticed that trait in them, though there was still a little bit of brightness left over from the anger a few moments before. But she was not one to take pity in any form from anyone. The Faery could have had all the compassion in the world in her eyes right now and she still would have felt like ripping her to shreds.
But she did note the honesty in those eyes.
Her eyes instantaniously looked over the girl...
She was young but only in faery terms. Undoubtedly from the silver circlet on her head she was one of the royal faeries, and they were notoriously long-lived. Had she been human she would have been around sixteen years or so. Morgule didn't care at all about physical attractivness, but she did note that she was very pretty...
Her long pointed ears showed through her chestnut brown hair, some of which was pulled back into braids, and the rest left hanging down the sides of her head. She was crouching, almost like a frog but far more graceful, her hands on the ground in front of her. She was relativly fair-skinned, but clearly spent much of her time outside judging from her tan. From her white gauzy dress Morgule would have guessed she was a sheltered, indoor member of the court, but then her eyes fell to the well-defined muscles of her overly long limbs, honed from many decades of training, and the calouses on her otherwise seemingly delicate and nimble-fingered hands. Emerging from her back and framing her face (at least from Morgule's viewpoint) were her long, iridecent dragonfly wings.
Her face was feminine but strong. Despite her youth her presence had no feeling of innocence or naivety.
She spared a glance over towards the doorway, where stood two other sphinxs, clearly trying to make their way into the doorway, but some invisible barrier held them back...she realized it was coming from the faery, and gave her a small amount of credit for trying to take this on by herself.
But that will not help you... she thought to herself coldly.
The faery shook her self a little, as if to free herself from the last of the paralyctic effect of the Gaze.
"If I release you from these bonds, will you promise not to harm anyone?" she asked gently.
"Why should I make such a promise!?" Morgule snarled. "If you had no desire to be attacked, you all should have stayed away from my territory!"
"I apologize for the intrusion" she said, gently but firmly. "However, our armies needed to pass through, and we asked respectfully if you would allow us..."
She was interupted by the furious outbusrt that came from Morgule's lungs.
"RESPECTFUL!!? I SHOULD HAVE KILLED AND LEFT THAT CENTAUR TO ROT AND IT WOULD HAVE SHOWN HIM MORE RESPECT THAN HE EVER DESERVED!!!...."
Alambil knew that with sphinxes, to not eat an enemy, or at least consume a portion of his or her flesh after the enemy was killed was considered an insult to that adversary. Her fears seemed to be realized, that Hambor had been the one sent and had set this sphinx off...
"Again I apologize for his transgresion...however you also attacked the second messenger, someone who I trust with my life, and I find it odd that he would do anything disrespectful....
"Only if he didn't expect to be attacked," she snarled again. "He trespassed in attack position, so I defended what was mine. He is a sphinx, and knows our customs. I see no reason why I should have tried to back down from him." As if to emphasize her point, she gave a mental flash of events, giving the faery her entire memory of the encounter between her, the centaur, and the male sphinx.
The girl leaned back slightly, surprised at what she saw. She seemed to inwardly groan...
No wonder...dammit, Hambor, who on Earth sent you to take care of things? the faery thought to herself.
After shaking her head she met the sphinx's gaze again and said
"I will...take responsability for his actions...however, in my mother's eyes you have still attacked peaceful messanger, one of whom was a Royal Guardian. You will still have to face trial."
The sphinx merely glared at her, giving no promise to not harm the ones who she still deemed had insulted her.
If she want's to take responsability....very well....
The sat/lay there for some moments. Then...
Morgule felt a light rush of magic, the bonds holding her dissolved by a thought from the faery.
She instantly leapt to her feet and seized the girl by the throat. If she wanted to take responsability for the centaur's actions, then she could die for them in his place. She explained as such to the faery.
To her surprise the girl offered no resistance other than to hold onto Morgule's arm to that her air supply was not cut off as much. She heard the other sphinxs roar with fury. The albino sphinx's eyes began to turn white...
and the door opening filled in, now just a part of the wall. Yet more magic to keep others from interfering from the faery now dangling form her grasp. Aside from the fact she was struggling to breathe, her face was calm. Morgule leaned her head to the side with a dark curiosity.
"Do you wish to die, faery?"
<Not at all.> she said calmly in her mind, as she could not do so with her throat.
The sphinx barked a laugh. "You have a funny way of showing it! Why let me go? I will seek venegance on those who have insulted me, and if you take responsability for them, that vengeance turns to you...why?"
<I trust you>.
She flinched, her claws drawing blood.
