Sporadic tales of the more exciting/dramatic parts of my life. Will be updated infrequently, but usually with some interesting and/or funny stuff. Drama!
Worst. Drive. Ever.
Ok, so it was cold enough this morning to frost the windshield. No big deal, this is North Dakota, I’m used to it. So I scraped off enough to see adequately, and started on my way; I could see, I was fine. Right after I got through the first major intersection, I quite suddenly couldn’t see a blessed thing. There was a tiny 2- by 1- inch clear space in the very right-hand side of the windshield, and beyond that just a bunch of white. I was so afraid of hitting something-another car, a curb, a tree, a building.... eek

It was freaky-scary, but after grinding the curb once and "off-roading" also once, I managed to maneuver into a parking lot where I could do a more thorough scraping job, and made it to work 10 minutes late. And soon after found out I didn’t have to come in until 3 and a half hours later. mad

But after work was fun! I went to visit our local animal shelter, played with the kitties (some of whom were in heat-oh joy! more kittens later....) and walked a couple of dogs. One was very undisciplined, and nearly chewed through the nylon rope part of the take-out leash. The other was young, very affectionate and friendly...and ate a dead mouse when I took him outside. Not exactly the smartest dog in the kennel.... sweatdrop

Clearly the last canine didn't know what was appropriate. How did you discipline him? I've only spoken to you once in fishing, but I just can't see you as being the sort that would let the kennel destroy him for you. Maybe I'm wrong.

That's the problem. I've never had a dog, so I'm not sure how to punish one that isn't "abuse." The shelter said both dogs need "socializing" but what they really need is obedience training, and I'm not sure they provide that. Neither dog is vicious or bitey, so I assume that's why they're up for adoption (I think they are, anyway). Also the mouse-eater, Ketchup, isn't really known for his intelligence. I tried to get him to drop it, but like I said before, was unsure of how to go about it. I attempted some light choking, and that might have worked, but I got a little scared about doing that. I don't know how to train dogs!
I wouldn't let them be marked as "unadoptable" if I could help it, no. I'm just unsure of how to prevent it.
