but minus the red hood. razz
We went to my grandparents as a day trip cause it's about a 6 hour round tripper. they live in Newbougher which is just out of Moe, along twisty turny bits and a decent chunk of highway. for once it was a very pleasant, laided back, easy going trip. there was no need for rush, no pressures and the only down side to it was my sisters condition... She and a bunch of mates had played Lazer Strike for her birthday. She was doing the driving (her car) and her body HATED her.
We finally took all the x mas prezzies we never got to deliver (mums car broke down just before we planned to go. razz ) and grandma's worm farm complete with worms filched from the worm farm at mum's work. Baby worms are so tiny and cool looking.
We also incidentally brought a slug with a hole in it's side. I was all for tossing him in the bin but grandma wanted a closer look at his four eye stalky things...well, they were kinda cool... I guess.
had lunch there which was yum... I ate waaaaaaay to much, especially with the home made fruit slurry. Note to self, boysenberries are sour and bitter when frozen. It took to scoops of honey to make that palate able. apparently I didn't have to eat it all but no one told me that. :s I kept eating until I'd cleared the bowel and boy was i stuffed. didn't need tea that night.
My uncle and his family turned up and we got to view his latests progeny who is almost to the walking stage by now. Grandma keeps hoping someone will pop out a boy. She never had a brother so she's keen on boys... more fool her. Brothers aren't' that great.
found out my married cousin is indeed expecting again and so is my unmarried and somewhat dimwitted cousin. I don't get my unmarried cousin at all. She's not stupid she's just flighty and not very sensible. partly her mothers fault as she has the same personality and was the type of mother who read her daughter's diary and pressured her to get a man... any man as no female is complete without a man. Problem is my fool of a cousin is really bad at picking guys. She manages to pick the dredges of society that make her feel useless and pathetic and drain her rather than build her up. her current on is a jail bait druggy who told her point blank he doesn't love her and just wants his kids... but she luuuuuuuuurvvvesss him. geh! I wish she'd start thinking with her brain rather than her groin.
The guys not good for her or the kids and her poor son is going to grow up with that as a role model and treat women as bad as his dad does... just freaking charming.
some people shouldn't be allowed to bred.
Except for uncle John and his kids i'd be tempted to agree with the cliche 'only stupid people are breeding.'
Sigh, all of that side of the family let their emotions rule their brains and have the self esteem of an earthworm. It's sad but there isn't much I can do about it so I tend to keep away from them. It's to depressing otherwise.
I'm so glad we live three hours way from them... I hate family politics.
While we were there, the equally flighty aunt that now lives with grandma and grandpa couldn't get her dvd player working and we eventually figured out it's the disks, not the player but she wouldn't take our word for it... oh no, she waited till uncle John turned up and asked his opinion. Argggg, I'm so glad I don't live near them. I swear I'd throttled something or someone. Of the 4 kids grandma and grandpa have the only 2 that show any common sense at all are mum and uncle John (and he's adopted and ruled by his wife.)
Well, after a visit only lightly salted with irritation we wended our way back home with the usual haul of plants and clothes. All in all, a fun and successful visit.
