The Invisible

To move outside the perception of others,
to be unrestricted and free to traverse
among friends, family, and strangers without
fear or suspicion or hatred is-- beyond a doubt--
a talent worth respect.

He hid himself, regardless of pain or neglect,
and buried it all; even in retrospect--
despite the chaos and fury burning within--
he would (if asked) do it all again
exactly the same.

Without life sustaining, pearls turn black.

She was a mute to the world.
She was a shadow to behold.
She was a blossom furled.
She was empty; her soul was sold.
She was another suicide in the morgue.

Let the hate and fear go.
Let us come to speak with each other.
Otherwise the Invisible will never know
What it's like to be loved by another.
And I'm tired of cleaning up the blood.

A Way with (Useless) Words

Alone, we can do so little;
together we can do so much.
They say ripples can become waves;
My words are the slightest touch.
The Goliath (Dickens) hefted
Many a boulder into the Sea (of knowledge);
Literature's David (Orwell) slung
Many stones at society (which does not age).
Read the words of Wells,
For he speaks in much greater voice than I;
Hear the thoughts of Conrad,
And perhaps you will not be so shy:
Speak up for those that go unheard
In our modern cacophony.
Put our many voices together--
Sing in the disharmonious symphony.
"The power of Proles will not be realized until they rebel;
They will not rebel until their power is realized."
Do not let the words that have passed turn to dust;
Take heart to memorize, to make them immortalized.
Alone we can do so little;
Together we can do so much.
