"Three months have past, I no longer see him in my dreams, nor in my mind. So what happened to him Zekke?" Kaarina asked closing her eyes and rubbing them.
"Well, I know he's not dead, that much I know for sure. However, if he's gone this long he must be planning something, I know my own brother, Kaarina." Zekke said and thinking about what Lithuite must be doing at the same time.
Kaarina's head instantly shot up and a look of alert came over her eyes. "Then we must be on alert, or something fatal may happpen." She said waiting for Zekke to destroy her sentence with a few of his own.
"Look, Kaarina, no more threats, no more dreams, we've had peace, however long it may last. But we've had peace!" Zekke said putting his hand on hers and reassuring her everything was fine.
"Alright, then here's a toast to a prosperous year!" Kaarina said raising a glass of champagne and taking a drink...or two...or three.
"Hey now! It's too early to get drunk!" Zekke laughed taking Kaarina's glass away, causing her to laugh. "Now, how about Italian for dinner?"
"Seems fair enough, so Italian it is!" She said clapping her hands.
"Kevin!" Zekke called as a servant came in. "Tell the cook to prepare a special Italian dinner. And you do know about dessert, correct?" Zekke said as the servant nodded and went to fill the out the order.
"Why a special dinner? Is something wrong?" Kaarina asked bewildered.
Zekke only smiled a secretive smile, as secrecy also twinkled in his eyes.
"Fine, give me the silent treatment." She laughed as their food arrived.
"Ah, now let's feast, no?" He said taking a fork and knife in hand.
"You're still the little kid I knew so many years ago." Kaarina said laughing at his tom-foolery.
"Yup! Which is probably how we became friends." Zekke said engulfing everything on his plate, before a servant came with dessert.
"Your dessert, sir. And a package was in the kitchen for you." The servant whispered the last one handing Kaarina a chocolate tart and giving Zekke a small black box with string around it.
"Ah thank you, Steven, you may go now." He said motioning for him to leave with his eyes.
The servant then stood up straighter than usual. "Of course sir!" he said before leaving.
"Now, Kaarina, I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes, and if you peek-"
"Don't worry I won't, just go." Kaarina said closing her eyes.
"Alright," Zekke began as he got out of his chair, moved next to Kaarina, and got down on one knee. "OK, open your eyes Kaarina."
"Oh my god!" Kaarina gasped looking at the ring with two bands of diamonds on it.
"Kaarina, you've known me for who knows how long, and back then you made me happy. So will you make me even happier?" He asked holding the little black box with a wide smile.
"Is that a real question? Because you already know the answer." Kaarina said beaming at Zekke.
"So, yes? Wait, you said yes! Thank you god!" Zekke yelled as Kaarina jumped to him in a hug and their world spun with kisses.
"I was the happiest person ever, now my life has gotten ten times better!" Kaarina whispered into Zekke's coat.
"No! This cannot be! I will not lose her without a fight!" A voice boomed causing both Zekk and Kaarina to jump in fright.
"I thought you left, Lithuite!" Zekke yelled getting in front of Kaarina for protection like he always did.
"Oh, you thought so, didn't you?" Lithuite giggled at their faces as he spread his wings out as Zekke asked him what he wanted.
"Me? Why I only want...YOUR LIFE!" Lithuite yelled throwing a katana at Zekke.
"NO!" Kaarina yelled pushing Zekke out of the way, causing her to take the blow.
"Kaarina! How could you Lithuite?! She never did anything to you!" Zekke yelled at Lithuite, holding Kaarina's head up a bit.
"Z-Zekke...I was honored to...know you. And... I-I love you." Kaarina spat out with a good deal of blood. "I'll always love you..." She finished before her world blurred and her heart stopped.
"Kaarina? No, please, you have to stay with me. Please, Kaarina, stay awake." He said through tears.
"I-I never meant for that to happen." Lithuite said quietly as Zekke's head went up a bit.
"You...I'LL KILL YOU!" Zekke screamed as raven dark wings came from his own back, and he lunged at Lithuite. "You killed the only person I ever loved. She never deserved death, YOU did!" He said as tears of hate began to flow and he slammed Lithuite against a wall at his throat.
"Zekke...stop!" Lithuite coughed out.
"Then give me a reason not to kill you." He said darkly as his grip intensed and his head turned towards the katana in Kaarina. "Now it's your turn, brother." Zekke said as he took the katana out of Kaarina's body.
"You take me, and I take you..." Lithuite said taking one of his extra katanas out and stabbing Zekke as he stabbed Lithuite.
"Now neither of us...will suffer..."Zekke said as he fell to his knees.
"Sadly Kaarina...suffered first..." Lithuite said falling forward, dead.
Zekke then dragged himself to Kaarina's body. "I'm sorry...Kaarina. I stopped him...but at the price of... your life...I love...you..." He managed to say before the light left him.
"Master Zekke, I needed to ask- OH DEAR LORD! STEVEN! KEVIN! GET HELP, QUICK!" A maid said running back into the kitchen.
"Well, I know he's not dead, that much I know for sure. However, if he's gone this long he must be planning something, I know my own brother, Kaarina." Zekke said and thinking about what Lithuite must be doing at the same time.
