An Ode to Childhood
While reminsing back to my days of early adolescence,
I can clearly remember how new things seemed back then.
I was hardly used to the mysteries of life,
Though I never really thought about them.
All the weekends and summers spent mainly outdoors,
Nowadays feel like a memory that's faded away.
The friendships from days of elementary school,
Some there, some gone.
At times I find myself wondering how some of them are,
But I guess I won't know, for I don't know where they are anymore.
In the same, white apartment, sixteen years flew by,
Back in my early days, I never thought I'd be there that long.
It's just in my years of Nickelodeon, Disney and cartoons,
That I think about most often.
The time when I wasn't allowed to watch or do much else.
At some moments, I wish I could travel back in time,
To a place when my life was so much simpler,
And there was never much to worry about.
Not too quickly I then remember - time moves forward for a reason:
If anyone could ever really go back,
No one would ever want to leave their early adolescence.
