Doorways and Paper Clips
Detention came without any real break from boredom. After the final period of the school day I followed a line of students into an empty classroom where we were told to take out something and to do it quietly for the next hour.

I didn't smile, but I don't know how I managed to avoid it.

Quote:
"Nikoli, tell me about Cerenta. Tell me about the castle there, and the people you knew when you were young--" Emilia was interrupted by Nikoli's grunt of discomfort.
He shifted his weight before letting his silver-green eyes meet hers. "I don't remember them, and none of them are alive any longer to remember me. Let those who can rest in peace do so, little one."

I shut the book at the end of that chapter, no longer able to focus on the book now that my attention had been broken. I scanned the room for the source of my irritation, but I saw nothing unusual.

There was the chubby boy from my health class, 'sneaking' chips from a crackling bag, but that wasn't it. There was a girl tapping her pen repeatedly against the metal rim orf her desk. While that was irritating, it wasn't what bothered me.

I shook my head, sending dark brown, straight hair flying. I pulled out the script for the next play, wanting to read it again. I knew all of the lines already for all but one of the seven female roles, but I wanted to see the words again.

It was a romantic comedy about a woman who her family thinks is horribly ugly, when in fact she is the prettiest of them all. She falls in love with a Prince, though she isn't nobility and they cannot be married. The entire play is filled with her family's wild antics and the woman's desperate, almost comical attachment to the Prince.

The Prince, however, has no lines until the very last page. In fact, he closed the play with his line, "I'm sorry, do I know you?"

I sighed, then jumped as the bell rang. My blue eyes lit up, and I was sure that I looked like an idiot, scrambling to gather my things and get to the Drama room.

I spilled my paper clips all over the floor, blocking three girls in behind me as I tried to get them up off the puffed, filthy carpet. It didn't help that the trio was busy making fun of my sweater and baggy jeans. I almost saw red when they called me an idiot and hopped the desk to go around me.

Eventually I got all of my things in order, and closed my bag. I shook my hair back from my eyes and headed numbly toward the door. I stopped dead when I realized that not only was there someone in the doorway, but that he wasn't moving. That irritated feeling crept over me, and I looked up.

I didn't know his name. I suppose that if I had I would have forgotten it, looking into his eyes. They were green-gold, and they were rather content, gazing slowly over my face. I might have blushed, but I don't think I did.

He laughed a little, that deep-throated male chuckle that women always dream of hearing but never do. His hair was red-brown, and he swept a strand behind his ear as I watched, dumbly.

"I'm Cameron." He extended his hand, but all I could do was stare at it, as I had been staring at him.

I've dreamed of you. I've written about you, story after story... You're the one...

I cleared my throat and nodded, knowing that I was a fool and not trying in any way to fix it. He moved out of the doorway, realizing, maybe, that I was too dumbstruck to ask. I'm not sure, as I couldn't bring myself to turn around, but I beleive that he watched me the entire time I walked down the hall until I turned a corner. I felt that tingle still.

With a deep, restoring breath I turned and continued on my way into the Drama room.

I know that This Journal isn't very popular, but if you do manage to stumble across it I promise it will be worth your while to stick around. Once again, feel free to pm me with ideas and stuff, I'm always ready to hear your thoughts. Thanx, later!!
