Today I:
-Tried to connect a printer to a computer. I think I finally found the right cord in a pile of junk upstairs, but we still couldn't get the computer to recognize the printer.
-Shuffled around the pamplet files to make each drawer better fit the alphabet. Made labels for the new arrangement. Did lots of fiddling around to make the labels look right. Then ran out of label tape after printing only two labels. Had to remake labels on different paper. Cut out labels. Stuck them over old labels. Very exciting.
-Made shelf tags for books after determining their Cutter numbers. Good old Cutter and his numbers. Also covered books with sticky plastic stuff. Was unable to get all bubbles out of plastic covers, as sticky stuff does not like me. Had to redo some because I forgot to mark them as young adult books (YA with a red dot sticker).
-Did copy cataloging using Horizon and Bookwhere. Fortunately most of the books were already in the system - just had to add an 092 tag with this library's call number in the MARC record and add call type "loc" and put the call number in on this library's holding.
I like working at a library. I dislike the certain awkward social thing which happened today which I shall not discuss on the Internet.
