Practicum
I changed the record on another genealogy book to "TS" (someone had requested the book, and since we have space for it, we decided to leave it downstairs). Then I helped Linda find a place to hide the keys in the genealogy room. We brought Mabel's picture down, and I worked on finding a good way to display her. We finally put her in the middle of the shelves of new non-fiction material. (We thought about putting her by the computers, but I don't think I would want her staring at me while I tried to work on the computer.) Then I pulled the books on the holds list and typed out a list of what was in the drawers and cabinets in the reference office at Linda's request. I helped three patrons - one was researching her family's history, another was trying to decipher her doctor's handwriting in order to find a book, and yet another wanted a book that was actually over in fiction. Later in the day I put plastic covers on a couple more books, cut out laminated materials, put new DVDs in security cases, and fixed labels on the folders in one of the reference drawers. I also made some more spine labels and did a bit of shelving.
