Seriously. I mean, I appreciate comic books being made into movies, what with how it makes the material more accessible to the average crowd. But only when it's done well, like Iron Man and the new Batman ones. X-Men Origins: Wolverine? I'm not considering particularly done well. A title like "High-Octane Action Movie: Starring Mr. Hunky McStudlikins" may have been more appropriate. The convenient plot points or outright plot holes kind of boggled the mind, and I laughed way more often than I should have at the dramatic posing. Walking away from an exploding helicopter, bursting into a scene without the jacket worn just a shot before, the obligatory death of the loved one and kindly old folks that take you in and give you one-liners of wisdom. It was a good thing the theater was pretty much empty, cuz my snickering could well have enticed the rage of a fangirl had there been any around. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the gruff rugged buff look, and Wolverine the character and X-Men in general! But Hugh Jackman != Logan, I'm sorry. I think it's the voice, it doesn't live up to the games or the cartoon's growly accent.
That said, I did like a good bit of it, mostly the supporting cast. Deadpool was amaaazing, even if his katana-propellers made me laugh. Dominic Monaghan/Pippin was nice to see again, even if he did only hardly more than a cameo role. I dunno who Will.i.am's character was, other than a less spiffy version of Nightcrawler, but he was pretty cool, and seeing The Blob's backstory was neat too. Young Cyclops was cute, but I thought Gambit was a prat that didn't know wtf he was doing. Dreadful sense of timing, that one, but I guess I can forgive him because of the neat card tricks. I really liked the brother relationship between the two clawed gruffs, even though I thought it got pretty high-and-mighty that Logan was the one to curb Sabertoothe's bloodlust. Ah well.
What else? Oh, right. I'd had this niggling thought in the back of my mind for a while, ever since I sat down and read a whole bunch of Fables*, but it wasn't until the scene when Wolverine was shown hanging out in a cabin in the Canadian wilderness with a pretty lady that it hit me: Wolverine = Big Bad Wolf*. It kinda blew my mind. As it stands right now, I like Bigby better, but that might be because of the Hollywood treatment of the first. If I could get into one of the many serials, I'm sure my opinion would change, but it's suuuch an investment to get involved with long-running comics. It's so much easier to get the occasional stand-alone, or mooch off of people who are more into it than I am Dx
Speaking of which, I totally need to read Watchmen. And probably reread Emperor Joker. And Dark Knight Returns. Maybe Blue Beetle, cuz he's squee~
*(from) the comic book, not the literal, well-known stories.

also, i have no idea where the gas was leaking from on the heli that let logan blow it up like that. i'd been wondering about that since seeing the trailer or whatever.
i agree with you about gambit. i liked seeing him there, and i get his motivation for not liking wolverine immediately, but he seemed a bit more lost than he should have.
i... don't know who else could play wolverine, though. i like jackman there.
