Looking back at shows I once loved...
So there's this series on Youtube called Dragonball Z: The Abridged Series, and it's really funny. And I was watching it, and I got this nostalgic feeling, remembering when I used to watch Dragonball Z every day as a kid. It used to come on every weekday at 5:00. ^_^

So that set off this giant chain reaction, and I started thinking about all the old shows I used to watch as a kid. Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Mobile Suit Gundam, Tenchi Muyo, InuYasha, Big O, Naruto (I'm almost embarrassed about that one...-_-; ), Zoids, Cardcaptor Sakura, and many others that I can't quite remember at the moment...And as I was thinking about each show, I began to think about some things I never really thought of before...

Like, in Pokemon. The main plot was about the main character, Ash, on a quest to catch all the pokemon and get all the badges. Cool. So then Team Rocket shows up, and they're the bad guys who want to kidnap Pikachu, who is Ash's first and favorite pokemon. Nice and easy to understand, right? But here's what I don't get...Did they ever really explain WHY Team Rocket wanted Ash's Pikachu?? As far as I could tell, they only wanted to steal Pikachu just to get on Ash's nerves. What were they going to DO with Pikachu after they got him?? I never really understood that, and didn't really think about it until yesterday.

And then there was Dragonball Z, with its hardcore theme song and its epic fight scenes. Yup, truly a cartoon for guys. (Which is probably why I watched it, lol.) But what confuses me about Dragonball Z is...It takes place on Earth, right? (Most of the time.) So it would obviously have to be set in the future, since there was alot of futuristic technology...But if it's set in the future, then why is there always so much open space?? I swear, almost every fight scene that took place on Earth was in some wide, open, hilly area. I'm pretty sure that in the FUTURE, humans would have run the whole planet over with cities and what not.
...Unless it takes place so far into the future that all of the cities and such that we have now on Earth were buried underground somehow...Ahh, nevermind! It's too complicated! >.<

And the last thing that baffles me: The Gundam series. For those of you who don't know, Gundam is basically an anime set in the future that has people inside of these giant robots, controlling them to do what they wanted. (Usually to fight.) I guess you could compare it to Transformers, only these robots had people inside them and couldn't think on their own. But here's the confusing thing to me about Gundam...HOW IN THE HECK IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE??? I mean, if you've seen the show, these robots are HUGE!!! GODZILLA HUGE!!! And yet they could fly and hover in the air for really long periods of time!! And they could fly, like, lightning fast!! And hardly anybody ever DIED while controlling one!! Sure, the majority of the series took place in space, but it still defies every law of physics that exists!!

And yet, I never even thought about any of this back when I was a little kid and watched all of this on a regular basis. Funny how you notice things 10 years after you first encounter them. neutral
