The sunshine from outside was enough to wake me up, because it shown brightly through the hospital curtains. Slowly, I opened my eyes and looked around the room. A typical white, average hospital room, with a door to the bathroom, fake paintings on the walls and a few sitting chairs here and there. I lay on an inclined hospital bed with thin, white sheets that couldn't keep you warm even if you prayed for it to. I raised my arms and took a breath of relief; no injections.
"Oh. You're awake! How are you feeling?" a woman asks as she enters my room. This woman was clad in a white medical outfit and tennis shoes with a clip board and pen in hand.
"Good. Where am I?" I inquired sitting up from the bed.
The nurse gently took hold of my wrist and took my pulse and listened to my heart and lungs before answering me.
"You are at Grimwald Medical Facility, not too far away from The Grand Twin Lakes subdivision," the nurse named Janice (from her name badge) answered. I stared at her. I never knew there was a facility so close to my neighborhood. Now I feel stupid for making up those things about that guy last night. Wait! Where is that guy?
"Um," I muttered.
"Yes, Kaya?"
"Where is that guy who brought me here last night? Haru was his name," I asked as she jotted down notes.
"Oh..he was that handsome looking fellow with the light brown hair. Yeah, he left a few hours ago saying something about having to go to school in a little while," she said as though sighing longingly. "Weird enough, a nurse who worked the night shift last night quit for some reason. I wonder why...?"
Okay. What the hell is up with all of these women romancing over this guy? It's getting to be rather sickening to listen to anymore.
School, huh? I hesitate for a moment as I stare horrified at my watch. SCHOOL!!! HOLY SH***! 25 minutes till the bell. At that, I fly out of the bed, startling the nurse. I throw on my clothes and stomp into my shoes and am out the door before the nurse could call me back.
The next minute, I am bounding down the sidewalk at top speed. I'm a major athlete in track. I never knew the reason why I could ever run as fast as I do but I just can. 10 minutes. My legs were beginning to ache when without warning a silver viper's car door opened beside me, a car driving at the same speed as my running.
"Jump in," came that familiar voice. Without thinking twice, I vaulting into the black leather passenger seat and closed the door as he sped up towards the school. I took a second to catch my breath.
"Thank--thank you," I exclaimed. He nodded.
"Not a problem," he replied.
In no time, we were parked and running into Dutch High School's iron front doors and down the hall. 3 minutes remaining. Finally, I had made it to my homeroom with 2 minutes to spare. I turn from the door, intending to thank him but he was no where to be seen. The hallway was completely empty. Huh...he was just beside me a moment ago.
The second I walked in the door, the bell rang for the beginning of class.
"Gasp! You're kidding! This guy just snagged you from the sidewalk in his viper and just disappeared before you could thank him?!" Tenshi gushed after I told her what happened.
I took a bite of the apple I had bought and chewed.
"Yeah," I agreed with a mouth full of apple. I had went through the whole day watching the clock. Classes were always boring and people didn't really come into being friendly with me. Well...they were friendly in a fake kinda way, if that counts as friendly. People would be friendly to anyone who has a butt load of money. But I hate that fake crap so I tend act like a bee to any prep or well-dressed jock who comes near me. Something about Tenshi, though, calmed me. She gave me what I really wanted and that was friendship, the scence of being wanted and needed at the same time. It felt great hanging out with her. Then just resently we met a new friend.
"Zeno! Why are you sittin' over there?! Come eat lunch with us for the last time! It's okay, you know," I shouted across the commons area.
Zeno looked up at us from her food, stood up and walked over. Zeno sounds like a guy's name but she is actually a girl and one of our newest friends . She's quiet in public but once you get to know her, she can be really cool. We all have the same hobbies and likes.
"Hey. What's up? I heard you were in the hospital last night. You okay?" Zeno asked after swallowing her food.
I stared at them. Tenshi's eyes were wide, waiting for an explanation. Tenshi is alittle taller than me, or so it looks like. (I'm 5'4, so yeah) She has golden blonde hair and brown eyes. She has freckles on her cheeks and nose, too. She kinda does remind you of an angel if you take the time to observe her. Tenshi loves to know what's going on and likes hanging out with our newly formed group of friends. Zeno finished her home-made bowl of ramen and looked at me, waiting. Zeno has blonde hair and blue eyes. In recent times, she had begun to straighten her hair and it looks fantastic! Like the rest of us, she likes anime and reads manga.
"Hello? Kaya? Are you okay?" Tenshi asked with concern in her voice.
"Yeah...I went to the hospital. I had trouble breathing or something like that," I said casually, taking another bite from my apple.
"Dude....I swear that fine guy over there has been staring at you this whole time, Kaya," Zeno spoke softly as though to keep it as a secret between us. I rolled my eyes.
"It's probably one of those perverted jockies after my money and jewels," I said sarcastically.
"Please don't EVER say that again. This guy is wearing a black leather jacket and tight black jeans. I don't think that's one of those blue sweatpants-wearing jocks we normally see around here," Zeno muttered and swallowed hard. "He's coming over here! Kaya!"
Then, sure enough, that guy named Haru came to a stand still beside me and nelt down. My eyes came into contact with his deep, mesmorizing dark brown eyes. I softly gulped, containing myself.
"What do you want? Thank you for last night and everything but..." I was cut off of words as he reached for a lock of my hair and kissed it. I was left frozen, and wide eyed. His eyes were closed as though he enjoyed nothing else in the world. His eye lashes were dark, full and thick. Perfect. His skin was clear and amazing. Everything about him was so perfect that it could make even the most plastic-surgery obsessed celebrity look bad. He just looked so natural and peaceful.
"What the hell is up w-with you? You can't just come up to someone and do that! That's called sexual harrassment!" I exclaimed, as I glared at him; trying to mask the itch to smile that stupid smile I always do when I get imbarrassed.
Haru opened his eyes and stood up.
"It's sexual harrassment only if you didn't want me to. You showed no form of resisting me, did you?" he said calmly. "See yah around."
I stared after him, utterly speechless as he walked away.
Soon the bell rang for school to end and everyone ran to the parking lot to get out before the traffic hit the campus. Me? I started to walk home. Cars are not really my thing. The wind started to pick up as soon as I got closer to my neighborhood. That's when I started to think. Why hadn't my parents come to the hospital to see me or see if I was okay? This was kinda like them but they would have done something because I didn't come home at all. They would have called the police if they didn't feel like coming. What's going on? I combed a hand through my hair as I rumaged through my pocket for my keys. The wind was bad here. Weird. I had found my keys and was turning the knob when I heard a sharp clatter from inside. I stopped short and listened. A piece of china fell and broke. Then some scuffleing. Then silence.
"Mom? Dad? You home?" I asked hesitantly. I slowly pushed and let go of the door. It glided open. The breath totally left me from the sight of what I saw next. The tiled floor was smeared thick with blood. Bloody handprints glided against the walls. Two maids lay sprawled bloody and lifeless on the carpetted stair case. Last of all, I seen two forms hunched over my bloody butler.
"Mom...? Dad....?" I queaked.
The form's heads jerked up. Mouths smeared with thick dark blood, dripping down to the floor. Their eyes were a glowing version of the blood on their faces. My parents. Still in their work clothes. I took a step back. They hissed and bared their fangs. In a flash, They were both flying through the air towards me. To me, it was like slow motion was turned on.
"BANG! BANG!" As soon as the weapon was fired, I also heard two thuds and an earsplitting shriek. I covered my ears and was about to open my eyes to peak when a hand cover them.
"Don't look. You'll never forget it," that familiar voice said calmly and soothingly. Right then and there I melted and began to cry in the arms of my mystery man.
