I sat with my legs curled up to my face. My cheeks were flushed pink from crying so much but nothing else mattered. My eyes were hollowed, reflecting the red and blue lights of the police cars. Haru had called them. They wanted to ask me questions but Haru steered them away. It was too much for me to bare. It hurt to feel. Why? It isn't like they cared for me...but...they were still my family. My flesh and blood. I over heard the policemen talking about two huge piles of dust laying by the front door and how they have no leading idea what that was supposed to mean. This is the kind of thing you see in movies! Not in real life! Not in my life! There is no possible way I could hide this truth, though: I am now officially an orphan. Great!
Suddenly, two arms wrap around my neck.
"Oh, Kaya! I'm so sorry! I came as soon as I heard it on the news," Tenshi cried, hugging me tightly. I sighed. Perfect. The news is involved already.
"Well, you're lucky Haru got in the way before they came to you. They couldn't get passed him or near you. It was kinda funny and cute at the same time," Tenshi gossiped. I huffed. Why was he being all nice? I haven't been that kind to him and it doesn't seem to faze him. That guy is weird.
"Hey. Wanna come over to my house before Child Protection come and takes you away?" Tenshi asked without thinking.
"Wow, Tenshi, that makes me feel a whole lot better," I answered sarcastically.
"Hahaa..sorry."
"Yes. That would be a good idea. Hurry and take her away before they see you," Haru said at the spur of the moment. I jumped from his sudden appearance. I don't know what came over me but....I tackled him. I mean, I jumped from a sitting position, barrocaded into him, and knocked him down to the ground. His half closed eyes widened alittle in surprise.
"WHY ARE YOU BEING SO NICE TO ME?!!" I shrieked, my stance as vile and dangerous as a snake's. He smirked. Yes, it was so frickin sexy that it was a wonder why my knees didn't buckle but I had a heart of steel and bones to match it.
"You'll find out soon enough," he replied suductively. "Now go!"
His multiple personalities are getting on my nerves. Mystery guy. Pervert. Stalker. I shivered in annoiance as I followed Tenshi to her parked maroon Mercades.
"You're so lucky to have a boyfriend, Kaya," Tenshi sighed.
I glared at her hotly.
"Okay! Okay! He's not! I get it! Owh, fudge. You can't take a joke can you?" Tenshi said after we had got in the car and she had started the engine.
That night, I couldn't sleep. Were my parents really gone? Everything has happened all too fast. I wiped the sweat from my forehead and looked around. She had stairs in her house too, so that made her bedroom an upstair's bedroom. She practically always complains about the paint job in her room. Yeah, her room is pink and she is a fan of purple...not pink. Her parents are the best, though. Her mom is hilarious and I have always thought that she could be a comedian. Her dad has a soft interior but a hard one, too. He can be an awesome person if you get to know him. (Did I mention he's good at bowling?) I sighed and slumped back down on the pillow and stared at her off-white ceiling. Thinking back to that gruesome image of my parents, they looked exactly like vampires. (Like duh! I've been obsessed with vampires and vampire stories for like forever) This supernatural this can't be possible! Scientists have already stated the genetics of that being impossible. But.......
"Tap....!" The sound came from the window. I ignored it until I heard it a second and the third time.
"Tap....! Tap....!
I stood up and went to her window and looked down. There was nothing there. Puzzled, I turned to head back to my cot on the floor when I heard it again.
"Tap....!"
I quickly put on my shoes and grabed my flashlight and headed down the stairs to their front door.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Frightened, I whirl in a complete circle.
"Haru! What are you doing here?!," I asked a little too loudly.
"Shh! I'm here to come get you," he answered as calmly as ever. The back door lay wide open from here.
"Why?"
"Because there's a lot I need to tell you," Haru answered simply. "Now come on.
"But my clothes...."
"They're already in the car. Let's go," he urged, walking up to me.
"I have a name, you know."
"Kaya.....please...," Haru pleaded. I stared into his eyes which hid his deep emotions but his smile was acceptable.
"Okayyy....,"
"Good," he replied abruptly and grabbing my wrist, he lead me out into the night.
The ride on the highway was quiet and I liked it that way. The moon was a waxing cresent tonight but it was very bright. Suspicious moon it was. Like something wasn't awaked yet. Ugh! I couldn't take it anymore..such suspence!
"So...aren't you going to tell me anything?" I asked, twirling a lock of my hair.
"Sigh...not until we get there," he answered.
"W--" I stopped short.

I jerked my head over to look at his speeddometer: 125 mph. The needle was on the opposite end of zero, literly. I hesitantly looked outside the window to see cars flying by. Haru glanced side ways at me.
"Is there a problem....Kaya," Haru asked with pure concern. I gulped.
"There's gonna be if you don't stop this car," I muttered groggily.
"Not a problem. We've reached our destination."
"Kaya?"
I didn't hear him for I had passed out.
