i am x A difficult to person to understand, Rhys often comes off as abrasive, sarcastic and moody. He doesn’t sugar-coat his words, opting to tell the cold hard truth, sparing no feelings in the process. These lovely qualities haven’t earned him many friends, and the ones he does manage to keep are just about as ******** up as he is. He has an addictive personality, explaining his use of drugs and alcohol. Though he has taken anger management classes, they haven’t exactly worked wonders on his short-fuse of a temper. Rhys has no qualms about resorting to violence and he views that getting involved in physical confrontation is a good way to relieve pent up stress. And it doesn’t help that he is incredibly impulsive. But he's not always so obnoxiously crude. He can he charming when he wants to be -- nice even, if a good enough reason is found. He is very perceptive, noting things about others usually overlook. He is loyal, but first and formost, it's to himself. He doesn’t put his trust in just anyone and hasn’t for years now. It is not that Rhys doesn't possess any good qualities, it's that they are simply buried under years and years of neglect and abandonment.
i love the color x deep prussian blue. i love that place x driving on the open road. i love that song xEverywhere I Go♫Hollywood Undead.
♣--- third layer superpower x power negation. limitations x Rhys' power is the ability to disrupt and nullify power systems. Whether it be a living creature, machine, or energy field, he can render them all useless. Of course, the results vary when he is touching different things. If it’s machine-based, it will usually just short out. With normal humans, coming into skin-to-skin contact with Rhys can induce immobilization, unconsciousness, or even seizures. He hasn’t had the opportunity to use it on another meta-human yet, but the likely result would be a flare up of their power, followed by a burn out for a undetermined period of time that depends on how powerful their ability happens to be. He can only accomplish this by means of physical contact. It is currently unknown if he can create the same effect when using a medium between targets.
♦--- fourth layer the finale x Once upon a time, Leslie Hart was a model, capable of turning heads wherever she went. Then, she met Lucas Delaney and her life went to hell. Or, that’s how she would want to tell you it went down. Truth is, Leslie’s life had been heading for the shitter ever since her modeling career went under. When her sugar daddy tossed her aside for a younger, bustier blonde, she turned to prostitution in order to support to habit. A hardcore addict, Leslie tried to get her hands on whatever she could: crack, speed, krystal meth -- you name it, she did it. Two years later, after a one-night stand with a businessman named Lucas Delaney, Leslie wound up pregnant. Seeing this as her only way out, she decided to keep the baby and make Lucas pay with everything he had. As the owner of the Tarvos Group, Lucas had more then enough money to support her and the baby, wanted or unwanted. There was doubt of course, though a paternity test ordered by a judge proved Lucas to be the father. To keep a potential scandal at bay, Lucas agreed to pay child support.
Growing up with his mother was extremely difficult. She would leave Rhys home alone, going out to have a good time and score drugs, leaving him crying for hours on end until neighbors complained and she finally hired a babysitter. It was amazing he survived as a baby, as malnourished as he was. As Rhys got older, his mother began adding alcohol to her routine and after that, the abusive boyfriends began pouring in. At five years old, he would have to hold back his mother’s hair in the bathroom as she vomited or spend hours in the emergency room waiting for the doctors to reattach her jaw. Because his mother was never well enough to actually take care of them, the task fell onto Rhys. Cleaning, cooking with the microwave (he mastered the stove at age six), and taking care of himself and his mother became commonplace. Thankfully, they were never evicted because his father paid the rent for their apartment. All of her money went to drugs and booze. Eventually, Rhys was forced to steal from his mother whenever she was unconscious so that he could buy food for them. They fought often, having screaming matches that usually ended in Rhys storming out of the house, no matter what time of day it was.
On one particular New Years Eve, Leslie was found dead in a back alley after having overdosed on cocaine and heroin. Rhys was fourteen years old. As a result of his mother’s death, Rhys was then placed in his father’s care. Involvement in his son’s life was never expected, but it certainly didn’t stop it from happening. Lucas stayed away from home as long as possible, leaving on one long business trip after the other. In an effort to keep him content, Rhys was given an allowance and free reign on the home. However, having grown up having to take care of himself, Rhys began acting out in hopes of getting attention -- any attention -- from his father, though a major part of his uncontrollable behavior was also due to his multiple disorders. Despite this, they were not diagnosed until his teenage years, accidentally discovered by the therapist when he was forced to take anger management classes for starting fights in his school. Expelled twice at different schools, his father was forced to relocate him. After cutting off his generous allowance, he was shipped him off to Brunswick, Georgia, his mother’s hometown, to stay with his aunt and attend a school there in hopes of a "fresh start."
Unfortunately, his fresh start turned out to be a disaster when he was kidnapped several weeks after his sixteenth birthday. Though he was returned in a relatively good condition, he sported several bruises and a broken wrist. Despite his claim of amnesia of the abduction, he believes he sometimes has nightmares of his captivity, though the images never seem to make any sense. And if things couldn’t get any stranger, Rhys has discovered an odd new ability that has made his life even more complicated, resulting in his aunt in a coma.
