An angel of death, Asterus possesses a terrible beauty that is tainted by the evil surrounding him, clinging to him like a shroud. His aristocratic features are framed by obsidian hair, soft as feather down. It's inky blackness creates a sharp contrast between his porcelain skin and luminous silver eyes, making them appear to glow with their own haunting light. They are sharp and perceptive like a predator's gaze, able to stop prey in their tracks with a single glance. A dark tower, Asterus looms at six feet and four inches, overshadowing most males. Slim and slightly muscled, an unexpected amount of power lies hidden behind his willowing exterior.
Steering clear of overly bright or happy colors, black seems to be his overall color, and he often wears it, adhereing to a monochrome color scheme that is sometimes accepted by a deep red. Asterus seems to choose clothing that clings to his form, including leather at times, a fabric he likes for its durability. What he wears varies from day to day, though he seems to have a certain inclination to dress casually whenever he can. Button-up shirts and jeans are his guilty pleasure. He dislikes formal wear and cumbersome cloaks that hinder his movements while engaged in combat, though he agrees that they make for a better showing.

Upon meeting Asterus, the first thing to be noted is his intimidating presence. An intense person by nature, he draws all eyes to him with his magnetic charisma. One doesn't have to like him to notice him. He sticks out in a crowd, but like a plagued leper no can touch. He is confident with a manipulative streak, exuding his dominance without even trying. Perhaps the most admirable thing about him is that he can covey all this without even trying, as it all seems to seep through his usually reserved exterior. Rarely exhibiting any emotions other than contempt with an icy blend of decorum, nonchalance rules his outward persona.
However, as dark as his ominous appearance may be, an even more sinister blackness has stained his soul. Like a malignant tumor, hatred has squeezed the last remaining goodness from his heart, leaving no room for any more kindness than he can afford. The lingering essence of a once kind and compassionate man has all but vanished, he is now governed by enmity and near sadism, he likes to watch others suffering alongside him. However, every once in a while, a strange feeling clutches at his heart; a sharp pain in his chest that flares up whenever he witnesses true acts of selflessness and love. Though the witch has told him this pain is "true self" struggling to break free, he refuses to accept that.

Born into an Eden royal family that would soon lose it’s crown, Asterus would spend most of his life fighting to get it back. Only three years old and unable to yet understand, he had been smuggled out of the castle by his nursemaid while the rest of his family was slaughtered. Loyal to the royal family to the very end, his nursemaid decided to try to raise the prince herself. That is, until she passed away five years later from cholera when Asterus was nine years old. Until then, they had lived in absolute poverty, Asterus knowing nothing of his true family nor his own birthright. His nanny, old, sick and on her deathbed, told him of his family and his inherent claim to the throne, leaving Asterus with an overwhelming sense of anger and hate.
Now an utter orphan dressed in rags and starving, Asterus had been living on the streets for several weeks before he happened upon a gang of mercenaries and bandits. They had recently been employed by the new king, as the family who had stolen the throne were now at war with another kingdom, leaving death and ruin in the wake of their gruesome battles. But they were loosing too many soldiers of their own and needed reinforcements. Unnervingly cunning, even as a young boy, Asterus had quickly decided that he would use the band to get himself into the castle. In the end, he was forced to pick-pocket from their leader to get their attention, an act that had almost cost him his life. However, as it would have it, the captain of the band found Asterus amusing, and so, he was quickly accepted.
Now, not knowing an inking of combat skills, Asterus was put through grueling training by the captain’s second, a man named Castor Payne. Annoyed that he was forced to train a “baby still in diapers,” he handed the would-be prince a sword larger than his entire body. Angry that he was being underestimated, Asterus pushed himself to exhaustion to prove his teacher wrong. As he watched his young protégé’s progression, Castor quickly came to the realization that Asterus was not a simple orphan, but a boy who held massive hidden potential. Within a year, he mastered his sword and in return, gained approval from the captain and growing resentment from Castor. Soon after, he was allowed to participate in combat on the battlefield. It was terrifying. But like he had for all of his life, Asterus struggled for survival and came out alive.
Six years and many battles later, and with a growing power as the war continued on, Asterus took over the band when their captain fell in battle. The band itself, victorious on many fronts, had gained not only gained new members (and Asterus himself several dependants), but a reputation and increasing fame across the land. Surrounding himself with secrets and creating a mysterious air, he became known as the Dark Horse because of his fearsome abilities, a force to be reckoned with on and off the battlefield. Soon, he found himself being knighted by the very same hand that had slain his father. Thankfully, for years and years of tempering his emotions, he did not show a single shred of his hate for the man wearing his crown. Instead, he let it simmer just below the surface, waiting as he bided his time. With faithful Inari by his side, he began plotting the overtaking of the kingdom by murdering the king.
Only, they weren’t the only ones with such plans…
The Queen, along with several other nobles of the land, did not like Asterus’ quickly rising position (not to mention the consequential infatuation the princess suffered) and they begun to plan an assassination of their own. Castor, who had been demoted in his position, overheard Asterus speaking in confidence, and began to piece together his true identity. He had prepared to use it against Asterus when the Queen approached him with an offer he couldn’t refuse: help her bring down the mighty Dark Horse and he would be given command of one of the royal regiments and made a captain, with plenty of land and a noble title once the war was won. There were nearly a half dozen failed attempts on his life, and several weeks later, after the victory of an important battle, his band was attacked in the dead of night.
Asterus, desperate to save their lives, used his power to tear open a rift in dimensions, opening a doorway to where they arrived in PANDORA. After Fayane’s consequent death, the massacre that followed and his notorious takeover of the kingdom, Asterus’ powers suddenly strengthened as his heart hardened. A merciless tyrant, he holds no sympathies for the cowards of PANDORA. Tortured by guilt and pained by the hatred he harbored, he called upon the services of a witch to find that Fayane could be revived. Now knowing that Fayane’s mirror soul resided on Earth, Asterus endeavored to find a way to return his lover to him, sending beasts to Earth to retrieve the boy. His efforts were halted however, by the appearance of Fayane’s knights, a factor he had overlooked in his eagerness to awaken the Prince.
However, he would not be deterred. In order to prevent the knights from awakening PANDORA’s guardian’s that he’d ordered be put into slumber, he commanded his own knights to Earth to watch them, and capture the boy when the time was right. He would have Fayane’s Earthean counterpart, and to Asterus, there is nothing more precious than the soul that he held within him -- not even the fate of the world.

( Void. )Naturally and massively destructive, his ability to manipulate darkness to his will is a powerful ability that can only be countered by light. Primarily used as offensive techniques, Asterus has the ability to condense dark energy into blasts, solidify dark matter into weapons and control shadows. He will often use shadows to move around.
( Abyss. )Like in the a black hole, its infinite darkness cuts through time and space. With this ability, Asterus can rip open portals to different dimensions. It does take a lot of effort and concentration, draining him of his energy almost completely whenever he exercises this particular ability. When using this ability to a lesser degree, he can teleport himself to other places as long as they within the same dimension.
( Katana. )A special blade that has been tempered to be able to help channel his abilities. With this, Asterus can store and retain dark energy within it, helping to save his energy whenever he opens a portal or uses it to attack. No other beside Asterus can draw and wield the blade without risking their sanity.
