White. The color of purity, holiness, light… and emptiness. Ase awakes floating in an all white room. There is a faint light he can see, but can't get anywhere near it. He remembers the man in the alley, what he had said, "… Don't interfere…" The thought echoes, not only through his mind, but throughout the emptiness. As it echoes, it changes. The voice becomes younger sounding, and the words begin to change, "… Shouldn't interfere… Shouldn't have interfered… You shouldn't have interfered…!" The light is shadowed by what appears as a bird. It gets closer to Ase, changing into a form more human, but with wings. The figure becomes clear; a man, appearing in his twenties, with silver hair and black wings. "Insolent youth!" He scolds, "I told you not to interfere!" It was the old man from the alley. He had become younger. "Who… what are you?" Ase asks. "Isn't it obvious?! *sigh* My name is Mortichai. I died back after the black plague. I was a warrior, the greatest in Russia. And I became Death." Mortichai replies. "Death?" Ase questions, "Yes, Death! Is there an echo in here?!" Mortichai shouts. "Um, Mort, do you mind if I call you that? Aren't you, you know, not supposed to have flesh?" Ase asks. "That's just a stupid Americanization developed by my medieval armor. And yes, you can call me Mort." Mort answers. Ase ponders what all this means. He asks, "Um, Mort? What does any of this have to do with me?" Mort replies, "Someone can only be brought back once as Death. I've already died. Twice. I was created to prevent the barrier between Earth and Hell from opening. After I did that, I learned that demons had escaped, so I had to defeat them and send them back. Later, I discovered that those demons had bred with humans, thusly, I was to wander the earth looking for these spawn, and reaping them from their human hosts." "Uuuuh…?" Ase questions. "Listen, I'm sending you back to Earth. But before you go, take this." Mortichai says as he puts his palm on Ase's hand. Mort continues, "I'll instruct you later. Now go!" He flicks Ase's forehead. Everything goes black.
