Make a Wish
Ami walked around Ohtoku City. Normally it would be managable. But since it was New Year's Eve, the streets were filled with people. She wore her light blue and white yukata. It was one of the few times now in which she had time off. Ami looked around, as if she was searching for someone. "Ami!" shouted a male. She turned around to see Hyuga. He was, somehow, making his way through the crowds to her. "Oh hey!" she waved back at him. The two walked to the Flyer base, which wasn't as crowded. "Didn't think I would see you here." he admitted. "I know," Ami said, "Especailly since I've been called away out of the Colony. President Laia likes to keep me busy." The two laughed. "It's been since the trip to the resort right?" he asked. Ami nodded. "And you cut your hair again." Ami felt her hair, which was now a little to her shoulders. "Yep, the long hair got too troublesome. What brings you here today?" "Thought I would go to the festval here. The ones on Neudaiz are popular." Ami nodded. "I've never been to one, so that's why I'm here." "Well," he offered, "you want to walk around together?" "I would love to."
For a few minutes, Ami and Hyuga were walking around the city grounds. Ami had stopped at a stand. "Make an offering and you just might win something." said the patron. She looked through her inventory to see an extra Crimson she had picked up from her free missions. She placed the item in the box. Ami closed her eyes as she did a silent prayer. Then there was a slight noise. In her hands, an item appeared. "What the?" Ami examined the item, which turned out to be clothes. "It seems that the Holy Light decided to give you something." Hyuga noted. Ami's face turned red. "But this?" She showed him the clothes. "Ah, that? Well, it's yours now. Go and at least try it on." Ami walked by herself to the clothing store.
About a minute or so later, Ami reappeared. "Do they look okay?" she asked. He turned and had a shocked looked on his face. What Ami had won was a nearly a perfect replica of the clothes that the Divine Maiden wears. It was of blue hues. Ami almost looked too perfect in them. "It's bad isn't it?" she asked, her face reddening. "No no, it's good." he assured her, "Really good in fact." Ami smiled shyly. "Thanks." "Just one request," he said, "Don't change from them today." Ami nodded. "Okay then."
The two continued walking a bit, catching up. "So Ashe has become a fully licensed Guardian?" he asked. "Yep." she replied, "He and I go on missions together at times. But I'm mostly by myself." He gave a slight smile. "You know he likes you right?" Ami stopped, "What? Really? I just thought he was grateful for what I was able to do." He shook his head. "Nope, he likes you." Her face became really red. "I-I-Wait. How do you know?" He gave a shrug, "A man's intuition?" Then he shook his head, "No I'm just kidding. He told me offhandedly during one of our missions." "Oh that's right, he did work with you a couple times." He nodded. "He saw me as a rival for some reason. I know our relationship is complicated." "To say the least." Ami remarked. "Right, but I assured him that we were just friends." She nodded. "Right, friends. But to be honest, I can't see him like that. Now I know how Emil feels." She fiddled with her fingers, a nervous habit of her. Just by this alone, Hyuga could figure out what was going through Ami's mind. "Is there another reason?" he asked. Ami shook her head. "Not really, but I rather not talk about it." They stopped in front of a large tree. "They say that if you take a tag..." he explained, "write a wish on it and place it here on this day, it will come true." Ami went up to the tree, littered with tags hanging. She took a tag and wrote something on it. She placed it in its envelope and hung it on a tree. "You're not going to make a wish?" she asked him. "No, don't have anything to wish for. What about you, what did you wish for?" She shook her head. "Something, can't tell you though."

Soon, it almost time to start counting down to the new year. The two sat on top of a hill, as many others were doing. "I'm going to do it. I will do it." Ami said to herself. Her face was becoming red at the thought. She looked up at the sky. Ami had thought about the year. It really was rough on her. But she smiled to herself, thinking that so many people cared about her. "I've been a Guardian for two years, maybe three now. I didn't think that I could have this life." "Ami?" She looked at Hyuga. "It's nothing." she said, "Just thinking about stuff. I'm lucky you know, I met my best of friends being a Guardian." He nodded, "Yeah, I can understand that." Soon the countdown started. The two counted down along with everyone else. Once it got to one, fireworks shot through the sky illuminating it in different colors. Ami looked at Hyuga's face. Her face was getting red again. "Hmm?" he asked her. "Err, aw crap." she went over and quickly kissed him, catching them both off guard. Ami stood up and began to go back down the hill, embarassed. "Wait! Ami!" he shouted, he started to chase after her.
Ami picked up speed walking down the hill, avoiding all the people as she tried to go back into the city grounds. "Ami!" she heard him shout. That made her walk even faster. Now she didn't even care where her feet took her, just away. "I'm such an idiot, why why why?" Hyuga finally caught up with her when Ami took a stumble down the hill to hit face first into the dirt. "Ami, you okay?" he asked, trying not to laugh at the event. "I'm fine." she said, dusting dirt off. She began walking again. She really didn't want to look at him. But she felt him take her hand. "Why?" he asked. Ami's face turned red, if it could get even redder by now. She was silent. "I don't know. I guess to thank you...." "Or?" he asked. "Or? Or, to confirm something." "Did you confirm it?" She nodded her head. "Yeah. I really don't want to talk about it." "Ami, look at me."
She was hesitant, but she turned to look at him. He tried to hold back laughing. Right at the bridge of her nose and cheek there were smudges of dirt. He began wiping it from her. "You don't have to do that you know." she muttered. "But I want to." Ami blushed because she felt like herself as a child at the moment. Once the dirt was cleaned off, the two stared at each other in silence. Ami gave an apologetic bow. "I'm sorry for back there. Once again I made an awkward situation." He shook his head. "No, well yes you did. But I was just caught off-guard by it." he admitted. He placed his hands on top of hers. "You've wanted to do that for a while?" Ami shyly nodded. He gave a slight smile. "There are times in which I felt the same way." "Well," she mumbled, "you can do it if you want." He looked at Ami surprised. "Are you sure?" She looked away, her face getting pink. "It's not going to hurt, so why not?" He laughed to himself. "It will feel uncomfortable though. So let me know if it does." he said. Ami nodded.
He tightened his grip on Ami, but it didn't hurt her. She started to fidget a bit, nervous. He put her in an embrace. "Don't be nervous." he calmed her. Ami nodded. Then he kissed her lightly on the forehead. She felt a tingling sensation througout her body. It was like she felt safe like this. Then he kissed her on the cheek. Ami got a bit more anxious, knowing what was coming next. "This is where it gets a bit tricky." he said, a bit embarassed. "Just go for it." Ami assured him, for a change. He nodded before fully kissing her.
Ami became numb, not that it wasn't bad. Actually, he was a pretty good kisser. She was just shocked about how it all turned out. He released her a couple mintues after. Ami looked at him dumbfounded. Her face was red. "Are you okay?" he asked. "I'm fine." She started to take off again. "It's getting late so I'll contact you later." she said. Hyuga nodded, "Alright...later then."

While Ami was taking the shuttle back to the Guardians Colony, she touched her lips, blushing. "It actually happened." she said. A small smile went across her face. "To be by you always. That is my wish."

Nice little fluff.
Anyway, I decided to scrap because I didn't like how it turned out. And I got hit with a big a** writer's block that prevented me further. So I'm like ******** this and let me to an EPIC retelling. It's still going to be centered around Ami and the pairing I'm trying to get at will still be there (I know someone out there is headdesking right about now) Basically a different turn to With You and expanding a bit. Figured it would be a little easier if it wasn't in the quite so far away future. And hopefully no more what the ******** since it's my modern-esque spin on it. One more ficlet, just separated in two pieces.
Next time: "You want ME and HIM to do WHAT?! You've got to be kidding..."
