Confessions pt. 2
Confessions pt. 2
It's only been a couple days since the inflitration plan. Ami had somehow managed to escape the group trying to test her for the Seed-virus. The woman Ami worked with gave her suspcious looks, but for the most part believed in Ami's performance. Even enough to let Ami personally take care of Hyuga. Ami was making her way down to his cell. She noticed him sitting against the wall, asleep. She took a moment to stare at him. 'I'm surely going to miss being a couple with him.' she thought. Ami opened the gate, which woke him up. "Was you able to contact them?" she asked. "No, it looks like the signal is blocked." Ami closed her eyes. "I see." She sat beside him. "Is it alright for you do to this?" he asked. "Well, they ordered that only me come down this way so I guess so?" Ami took his hand and leaned on him a bit. "It's getting tiring, acting like that." He ran his free hand through her hair. "You do that a lot." she remarked. He was silent. There were footsteps coming towards them. Ami quickly got up and straightened herself. The woman appeared. "Has he said anything yet?" "Nothing that we haven't heard before." Ami replied cooly. "Come, and bring the Guardian with you. We have a special guest that would like to see the both of you."
Ami was a bit nervous about who the guest was. Not to mention that she was getting a bad feeling over the news. They stopped at the door. It opened, then Ami's eyes widened.
Right before their eyes was the familar red Cast. "Magashi-sama." Ami said. "I thought you were destoryed again." Hyuga said. He looked at the two and laughed. "The same could be said about the two of you. You were supposed to be killed by my little puppet while she was to be killed in the explosion." Ami glared intently at him. "Don't look at me like that." he said. He yanked Ami to his side. "We still have a lot of Relics for you to copy data from." Ami squirmed a bit, but the Cast was stronger. "Or would you rather I force you to?" Ami felt something pulsing in her head, then unbelievable pain. So much that she knelt to the ground. "I knew they couldn't remove all of them. If they did, then you would have died." Ami looked up at him, glaring. "Damn you." She closed her eyes, fighting to stay conscious. "It was a set up." she muttered. The woman laughed. "Yes of course it was." She moved away Ami's bang to reveal that she was acting the entire time. "We've had sightings of you a couple months ago, back to your regular self. We'll use your corpse to merge with the Seed-Virus and not even that silly cure will stop it." Ami got up. "Now Hyuga!" she shouted. He nodded as he quickly got out of his bindings. He fought off the enemies before grabbing Ami's hand and running off. "Kill them!" order Magashi.

The two ran down the building. It was unfortunate that Hyuga was unable to get a map of the place. So they were running wherever their feet would take them. The pain in Ami's head subsided enough to keep a good pace with Hyuga. "Didn't think they would trap up like that." he muttered. They ran as the enemies were firing shots at them, avoiding them barely. Hyuga pressed the button on his comm-unit. "Come on, pick up." All he was met with was static. He had been trying to send a distress signal since they arrived at the base with no luck. Ami had stopped running. "I'm sorry." she said, slightly out of breath, "If I didn't-" He quickly hugged Ami, silencing her. "It's not your fault." The footsteps of the enemy got louder. "Come on," he said, grabbing her hand, "we can't get caught." As they ran, more shots were fired at them, but they were scratches that barely bled. Ami looked up at the corner and noticed that one of them was aiming a rifle for Hyuga. 'I have to do something.' she thought, 'I can't let him get killed.' The sniper fired, giving Ami a few moments to act. "Hyuga!" she shouted. He turned to Ami. At that moment, everything played as if in slow motion.
Ami had pushed him to the ground. In turn taking the shot that was intended for him. He stared at Ami wide-eyed at what she did. "Ami?" he asked. There was no response from her. A pool of her own blood was forming. "Ami!" Still no response. Her hair covered most of her face, but she still looked at him, trying to stay alive. "We picked up your signal. And we're touching down. Waber and Sage are already close to your location." said Lou through the comm-unit. "Have a medic team on standby. Satomora's been hit critically. I don't know how long she can stay conscious." "Roger." she said, "The medics say they are on the way. For the meantime, cast a restorative technic on her. It should give a few more minutes." He nodded as he took out a single handed staff. He wasn't as good with technics as he would like to be, but it was all he could do. He performed Giresta. At first, there was nothing, then Ami breathing a steady rhythm. Rapidly, but steady. "Ami, stay with me." he said. Ami just looked at him. He saw her crying. It was the first time, to his recollection, that he saw her cry. He heard weapons clashing, then the footsteps drawing near. He was ready to take out his saber before he saw that the footsteps belonged to Kyoh and Ethan. "We got here as quickly as we-" Kyoh stopped talking when seeing Ami. "Ami!' he shouted. He went over to her. "I think she can make it until the medics appear. The shot was pretty close to a vital organ." Ethan punched the ground. "Dammit!" he shouted. "They trapped us from the start." Hyuga said, still staying by Ami. "They were planning to use Ami's genetic makeup to create a new strand of the virus so that the cure would be ineffective." At that time, the medics appeared. They put Ami on a stretcher. "It looks bad." said one of the medics. They rushed Ami ahead of the others. Ethan looked around. Then he looked at Hyuga. He's never seen him so distraught over something before. He placed a hand over his shoulder. "She'll make it." he said. Hyuga nodded. "I know."

Everyone was back at the Guardians Colony. It's been about a day since Ami was rushed to the medical center. Hyuga was in the waiting room, so was Kyoh, Ethan, Emil, and Emelia. They were all silent as they hoped for Ami to pull through. Hyuga had explained what led to Ami's condition eariler. Emil sat in a bench, letting out a sigh. "Emil." said Emelia, "And everyone else. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner." Everyone looked at her. "But I knew about the nano-machines that were still in her body." "What!?" said Emil. "You knew!? But why didn't you tell anyone!" "Well...where they were, it was very slim that Ami would have lived if we decided to take them out. Some had managed to become in her brain so it was too risky. No matter how advanced we are in technology, doing treatments like that has an inherited risk. And.....Ami said not to tell." "Figures." muttered Kyoh. "It's not like that!" Emelia exclaimed, "She didn't want anyone to know because as long as they were dormant, then there's no need to. At least, we thought they were dormant." Ethan nodded. "I understand. As long as Magashi wasn't near to activate them, then she would be okay." Emelia nodded. "But," said Emil, "he's a copy Cast right? As long as there is still one, there's a chance that it could happen again. I'm thinking. Ami should quit the Guardians."
Everyone looked at Emil surprised. "Quit?" asked Kyoh, "But she wanted to be part of the Guardians ever since you saved her." Emil gave a brief smile. "I know. And it's hard to suggest such a thing. But as long as the situation still stands, then she'll be used by him again and again until eventually..." "...She can't take it anymore." Hyuga finally said. "Right." said Emil. The thought disturbed him. Throughout their time together, Hyuga and Ami got to know each other than it seemed possible. Ethan noticed the scowl forming on his face. "Hey Hyuga. Go and report to Laia. She's still waiting on one." He shook his head. "Not until we learn of Ami's condition." Ethan looked at him. "Go, I'll inform you the moment it happens." Hyuga sighed at Ethan's suggestion. "I know what you're trying to do you know." He got up and left to the headquarters.
Hyuga walked into the office. "So you're back. I heard what happened." He nodded. "Yeah, everyone's taking it pretty hard. I'm a little relieved that she's going to live a bit longer." Laia leaned back into her chair. "But Emil, that's Ami's former instructor suggests that Ami quit." He looked away. "Well?" she asked, "What do you think?" He turned to her surprised. "What? Me?" He took a moment. "Well, I don't know. It's clearly her decision. I would like for her to continue to be a Guardian. It's nice to work with her. But if quitting means that she can have a long life, then I'll accept that as her choice as well." Laia gave a playful smile. "I take back my eariler statement. You're not taken with her. You're in love with her." There was silence. "Maybe I am..." he said to himself. Laia stood up. "The report can wait until later. Type it up and send it to me when you are in the right mindset." He gave a nod. "Yes ma'am." "Go on, and don't leave her side."
As Hyuga was making his way back to the hospital, his comm-unit beeped. He picked it up. On the other side was Ethan. "We just finished talking with the doctors." he said. "What did they say?" Ehtan was silent for a moment. "She's heavily sedated and will need a lot of rest, but other than that she'll live. They said that they have something that could keep the nano-machines dormant." Hyuga let out a sigh of relief. "Thank the Holy Light. Say Ethan, am I really indecisive?" "Not really, why? " He shook his head. "No reason really. I just remember Ami saying it a while back." He let out a sigh. "Nevermind, I'm on my way."
He had arrived a few minutes later. But then, it was only Kyoh and Ethan there. "The rest went to bed for the night." Kyoh explained. Hyuga took a seat at one of the benches. "You know Ami really does like you." Ethan said. Hyuga let out a slight sigh. "I know, but sometimes I wonder. Maybe we are rushing into this." Kyoh got up. "I don't think I want to be around for this." He gave a small wave before leaving the two former classmates. "I'm actually confused. At first I really did see her as only a friend and ever since this mission, it's almost like when she's not feeling her best I'm not feeling my best." Ethan took a seat beside Hyuga. "What do you fight for?" Hyuga looked down at his hands. "A lot of things." he simply said. Ethan leaned back. "Well that's a given. I won't press it any further. I don't want Ami to think I had a hand in all of this." He got up, but not before placing a supportive hand on Hyuga's shoulder. "Whatever you decide, she'll love you the same way. So if she isn't in your future, let her down gently."

A few weeks had passed since then, Ami was already consciousness, just staying because of hospital protcol. She was met with all her friends. But Hyuga was the one who stayed constantly. Ami was relieved about that. But she had noticed that at times, he would look to say something, but then someone would come in to interrupt. It was one night that the two were in her room. She was sitting on the cot while he was sitting on the chair closest to her. "I don't think anyone else is supposed to be coming." Ami said, "So what is it that you've been meaning to say?" His eyes widened a bit. "You've gotten perceptive." "Well nearly being killed twice does that." she joked. He frowned at the statement. "Anyway, I've been thinking....." Before he could finish, Emelia, Emil, Ethan, and Kyoh came inside. "Thought we should hang out a bit before leaving for the night." Emil said. Both Ami and Hyuga let out a sigh. "You mind coming back a bit later?" Ami asked. Hyuga just looked out of the window. Then he got up. "This is going nowhere. I don't care who watches anymore." He went up to Ami and looked at her, blue eyes looking at blue eyes. "I've been thinking that since we were on that mission together I realized something." "This is going to get good." Emelia said, earning a slight jab at the ribs by Emil. "Wait." said Ami. She got up and grabbed Hyuga's arm and dragged him. "Don't follow."
Ami dragged Hyuga until they were at an observation deck. "There, now we can talk without being interrupted." Hyuga gave a brief smile. "Thank you Ami." She looked around. "Remember when we met here?" He nodded. "Yeah, you were sleeping. You're very cute when you are asleep." Ami blushed at the compliment. "Thanks. You're very warm when you are asleep." Hyuga moved a bit closer to Ami. "About what I was saying. I've been thinking and I realized something." He became a bit slient. "I care for you. But not like comradery caring. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Ami, no more trying." She looked at him, surprised. "Are you saying that-" He blushed. He hugged Ami. "I guess that's what I'm trying to say." Ami leaned deeper into his chest. "Tell me." she whispered. He laughed a bit. "You really want to make me suffer. Fine, Ami I love you." She smiled at his proclamation. She looked up at him. "What sparked this?" It was then he looked away. "Honestly? They were surfacing when you were abuducted by Magashi. They became a bit stronger when you and I were posing as a couple for the mission. I finally realized it when you were shot." Ami nodded. "I see. Thank you." She started to walk away. "Wait." he said. Ami stopped to turn to face him. "Some of the others have suggested that you quit being a Guardian. Since Magashi can come back and try to activate those nano-machines." She nodded. "I figured. Ever since I found out about them, I've been thinking of quitting too. If I did, it would be a medical discharge. But then again, I could try for another department instead of Mobile Defense. Maybe Intelligence. What do you think?" Hyuga was surprised at the question. "Me? Well, the selfish part of me wants you to stay here, just because if you quit then I won't be able to see you. The concern side wants you to quit because I love you so much that I don't want you to die. And my rational side just wants me to stay out of it because it's your decision and wants you to decide without any interfluence"
Ami took into account what he said. "You bring up good points. But I will think about it a little more." She went over and grabbed his hand. "Thank you, really." He smiled. "No problem. That's why I'm here right?"

The two walked back to her hospital room, with the rest waiting. "I knew it, you owe me a hundred Meseta." said Ethan. Kyoh sighed and dug through his meseta card. "Were you betting?" asked Ami. "Yep," said Ethan, "we were betting why you two left. I said it was because Hyuga was going to admit his feelings, Kyoh didn't" This made the two blush. "You really could make it as a matchmaker." Hyuga noted, "But yes, it's true. Ami and I are together now." "Finally!" shouted Emelia, "It was so obvious that you two should go together." Ami sighed, "Sure of course. And I have to tell you all something too." All eyes were on her. "Everyone doesn't have to look at me like that." she said, nervously. "Anyway, I know that it's been brought up that I should quit being a Guardian because of the fact that I could become Magashi's pawn again. But, after some thinking I've decided that I will stay on this path. I've pledged that I will risk my life for the sake of Gurhal. If I have to burden this, then I will. Until the president herself tells me no, I'll still continue." Hyuga placed his hand on top of her head. She closed her eyes. "Now everyone get out. You guys been smothering me with affection since I woke up. Anymore and I will go crazy." The group got up from their spots and began walking out. Ami grabbed Hyuga's arm. "Not yet. I mainly said that so that we can talk a bit more."
Ami was sitting back on her cot while Hyuga was standing up. "Today has been eventful." he noted. Ami just nodded. "I'm really am glad that you gave me a decision. One less burden on my conscious." She closed her eyes. "Even if it was different, I don't regret telling you how I felt back then. I fight for you too now." He smiled. "I know. And thank you. I really do think that the Holy Light was guiding me to you the entire time." Ami laughed, "Did they always go for that?" Hyuga looked at her. "What are you talking about? When it comes to the Holy Light, I am sincere." She shook her head, "Right and how ironic that it was mentioned when you were hitting on a girl." He stood up. "Goodnight Ami." "You're avoiding the question." she said in a sing-song voice. His face was red. "I know." he mumbled. "Love ya." she said sweetly. "Love you too. And Ami?" She looked at him. "Hmm?" "I like you better when you're not so feminine. And you wanted to know why I touch your hair? It's because it's really soft." Ami blushed. "Well that's weird." "I know and I think that the short hair has grown on me too." He walked out afterwards. Ami smiled. "Really, thank you."

*tears up* I would like to thank so many people. First Sega/Sonic Team for making PSU. And PSUpedia for helping me when my memory failed. And my little PS2 for taking in the 100+ hours of playing and multiple plays so that I can get the order right. *bawwww* And the obligatory Hyuga mention :3
But yeah you can perceive how they couple ultimately ends up. Will they have a future or will they go their separate ways down the road is all up to you. I personally think that because of Hyuga's character he wouldn't be the committed type. But this is fanfiction though.
