WARNING: FISH TALK

I went to a Walmart in a different city to find some alive fish LOL. I can't believe I found some healthy fish from a Walmart. o.o;

Lazy and I bought 1 Female Guppy and 1 Male Guppy, 1 Female Neon Tetras and 3 Male Neon Tetras, a Red Betta with Aqua speckles ...And 1 Pleco. >: D

We also bought some other junk like food, extra filters, water conditioner, a breeding net, etc.

So we got home and acclimated all the fish to the water in their new home. Everyone was doing fine and dandy for about an hour or so. But then things started to get a bit freaky. o_O The Betta started hanging around the Female Guppy a whole lot, and he kind of called it to my attention that she was hovering near the surface of the water by the heater and staying pretty motionless. So yes, the Betta was lurking around her, and idling right next to her and ever now and then he would slightly nudge her. Lazy had done more research on Guppies than I had, and when she saw how the female was acting she said it might be pregnant [which really isn't a big surprise]. So she examined it and told me to get online to make sure the symptoms were that of a pregnant guppy and they were. At least we're 90% sure they were lol. Then we rigged up the breeding net and stuck her in it. After she was in the net, the Betta came up to it and continued lurking by her and staring at her through the net. Then he flared his gill plates at her a few times. Since I don't know the behaviour patterns of Betta very well, I'm not sure what his intentions were. I know that they flare their gill plates when they are angry/threatened/boasting/whatever but they also do it when they are starting the courting process with a female betta. It didn't seem like he was being hostile to her before, so I can only assume he has a thing for my female guppy. That is a little bit weeeeird to me. >_>; I THINK I'M READING HIM WRONG. XD I lose at fish phsycology.

Since the female guppy was unreachable to the Betta he got bored and ventured over to the Pleco [THAT FISH THAT SUCKS ON THINGS =D AHAHAHAHA.]. He just STARED at the Pleco for a while and then he moved really close to the Pleco's face and flared his gill plates as wide as he could to intimidate it. The Pleco tooootally ignored him for about 5 minutes straight. Then it started to get unnerved and tried to hide from it, which proved rather difficult since it was a bare tank. He tried to wedge himself between the heater and the wall, but the Betta just wedged his face in there as well. Omg. o_o Me and Lazy started to get frightened so we took the Pleco out of the tank and put him in the clear cup the betta came in to inspect him. After I saw there was no parasites, etc. on the Pleco we moved him to our main tank.

When my mom saw what we were doing she got all excited and insisted we move our Betta in there as well. I was like -_-;; Noooo.. Not yet. And she was like DOO IIIIIITTT D:< Well she was kind of like that. You just DON'T UNDERSTAND how her silent yet impending doom can be. IT IS LIKE SUCH INTENSE PRESSURE IN THE ROOM YOU COULD EXPLODE. SHE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING. OR MAKE AN EXPRESSION ON HER FACE. OR EVEN MAKE ANY NOISE. SHE JUST SLOWLY AND QUIETLY EXHALES LIKE THE NINJA PREPAIRING TO STRIKE. AND YOU WAIT. AND YOU WAIT. AND YOU WISH THE BLOW WOULD COME, BUT IT DOESN'T. AND THAT. IN ITSELF. IS MORE PAINFUL. THAN AN ACTUAL BLOW. OOOOMG.

IT IS LIKE A SERIOUS PHSYCHIC PRESSURE. I AM AFRAID. So I put the Betta in the 55 gal Aquarium for my mommy. :3 [.... gonk ] After checking it over of course.

Soon after we put the Betta in she wanted all of the other fish in as well... =.=; So we put them all in except for the female guppy.

OH MY GOD. I HAVE TO TELL YOU. AAAAHHH!11! It took some serious effort to get my male guppy out of the tub and into the little plastic cup. LIKE 10 MINUTES. IT IS SO FAST. AND SO SNEAKY. AND HID BEHIND THE PUMP. AND THE HEATER. AND THE BREEDING NET. AND ALMOST JUMPED OUT OF THE TUB. WTF. SOOOOOOOOOO. I finally got him in the cup, along with the 3 male neons and 1 female neon. Huzzah. Then I set the cup on the book shelf in my bedroom [where the Aquarium is] and I had to peeeeee like a race horse. Also I thought the fish needed to calm the ******** down before I tried to move them again. SO OFF I WENT TO THE POTTY. I came back to the bedroom thinking "Gee, I hope no one jumped out of the cup lololz" LOW AND BEHOLD. AS SOOOOON AS I SAID THAT. ONE LONE NEON FLEW FROM THE CUP, SMACKED AGAINST MY 5TH HARRY POTTER BOOK 1ST BRITISH EDITION AAAAND LANDED ON MY SHELF. I WAS LIKE. AAAAAAHHH!1!!1! OMG! I ran over there and tried to pick it up, but I almost SPEARED it with my claw-like finger nails so I was YELLING FOR LAZY TO COME AND HELP ME. I WAS LIKE-- OOH MY GOD COME HERE. SOMEONE HELP ME. And mom was like "lolz hay she is callin u" and I'm like COME HERE RIGHT NOW OH MY GOD and mom was like "hay lolz she still callin u" and Lazy was in the kitchen, right, so she couldnt' hear me SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER. Finally mom was like "o wayte. dat sound kind ov urgant. HAAAY U SHE IZ CALLIN U I TINK SOMEFIN IS WRROOONNGGG" and Lazy was like BOMBOMBOMBOMBOM that's her feet.. And she ran in all "OMGZ WUT IS HAPPENIN" and I could hardly get it out of my mouth because I was so mad and panic stricken xDDD I don't remember if she understood what I was saying, or just realized what happened after my frantic motioning to the tiny fish on the bookshelf. Anyway, SOMEHOW it got back in the cup. And I was like OH MY GOD. COUNT THEM. DID ANY ONE ELSE FLY OUT? DDDDDDD:

Thankfully no one else tried to suicide and we managed to get them into the Aquarium without any casualties.

Eh.. so everyone is happy in the Aquarium as of right now... I wont be able to tell for sure how everyone is doing until tomorrow. I really moved them around way too much and putting them from one tank and then into another after only 2 hours was not a smart thing to do, even if the water temp/quality/ph was pretty close to being the same, netting is never fun for fish. [I didn't have to net the Betta, he just swam happily back into his cup o.0 Weird fish...].

Oh.. two who were most definately not happy at first were Udon [Panda Moore] and Konohamaru [Calico Fantail]. First, Konohamaru was scared shitless by the big bad Betta. He didn't know his up from his down, or whether he was coming or going. Udon wasn't phased by the newcommers, he just seemed really grumpy that they were getting Konohamaru worked up. [Which I think is a girl now..]

Udon and Konohamaru have been having a lovely Romantic Rondezvous together while they were alone in the tank. Since the tank was significantly warmer than the tub they used to be in, I think it kind of triggered romance time for them. Konohamaru is much plumper than he/she used to be [and I haven't been feeding her any differently]. It will be a while before I can know if Konohamaru is pregnant for sure. I really don't know what to do with eggy goldfish. Duno if I need to keep their mate with them to fertalize the eggs or WHAT. I have no idea WHEN this mysterious fertalization ceremony takes place because hey--I am not an expert on fish pr0n, but I have a feeling I'm about to be in the near future. sweatdrop

Mmm.. so yah. Udon scoped out all of the new fish after a while to see if they were friendly. He spent a while following them around while Konohamaru hid near a hollowed log. Then Udon went back to Konohamaru and lead her around. I love those two. T 3T heart

I feel so bad for bringing in all of these new fish, ruining their happy honeymoon. xD;

No really. I dooooo. @w@;;;; I'm really tempted to go back to just goldfish when these die. I like my Betta a lot and all, it's just not the same as Goldfish. If I get another Betta in the future it will be kept in a seperate tank.
