It was 3:30 and the next twenty minutes felt like forever to me. I’m sure it felt the same way for Kai but, if he did feel the same, he didn’t show it. We sat in silence. I wanted to break the silence because it was becoming uncomfortable but I couldn’t think of anything to say. Finally, I gave up thinking of something to say and sat as the agonizing silence stretched on. I jumped at the sudden ringing of my alarm clock. I had set it to ring at 3:50. I ran to the door as quickly as possible. The run to the train station took only ten minutes from my house.
Kai followed closely behind me and eventually passed me. He was taller than me and his legs were longer and more muscular. He started losing me. He was the only one I knew who could run faster than me. He slid to a stop as he realized I couldn’t keep up.
“I thought you’d be able to run faster than that!” he yelled from where he was standing.
He ran back to me and threw me over her shoulder and started running. My weight on his shoulder didn’t even seem to faze him. I didn’t weigh much but even my weight of 98 pounds should affect him a little.
“Put me down!” I shouted at him, struggling to get free of his grasp. Like before, I failed miserably. How can he hold me on his shoulder while I’m struggling, and run at full speed? What is he? Is he some kind of monster?
As I continued thinking, my stomach started hurting where his shoulder was digging into it. “Okay, Kai. Now it’s starting to hurt. Put me down!”
He reluctantly put me down. Instead of letting me run on my own again, he grabbed my hand and started running. I blushed feeling the warmth of his hand in mine. Actually, my hand was in his since he was half dragging me while running.
Snap out of it, Kairi! It doesn’t mean anything! He’s just making sure you keep up! You don’t even like him! You just met him! One side of me reasoned.
Yeah, but he’s so cute! It could have been love at first site. Don’t you just wish that you could stay like this forever? The other side of me reasoned.
Of course I don’t! I have to find Liana. I don’t have time for romance or any kind of relationship. Besides I have Zebanana.
But Zebanana wasn’t there when Liana was captured. He doesn’t know what it’s like to have lost someone close to you. He doesn’t even know Liana is missing but Kai was there. He was there to comfort you and he knows what it’s like to lose someone close. He lost his little brother.
Oh great! Now I’m going crazy! I’m talking to myself! I looked up at Kai who, to my surprise, was looking back at me. His face showed brief surprise as he quickly turned his head to hide a blush.
We made it there in five minutes thanks to Kai’s running. We had five minutes before that creepy was going to show up and I was pissed. For some reason, Kai ‘holding’ my hand had calmed be down quite a bit but I was very irate right now.

Now that Firefly was gone, everything was serene. Liana and Michi sat on the bed eating and talking. Suddenly the door burst open and a little girl who looked about Michi’s age ran in.
“Aha!” she exclaimed, victoriously. “I have escaped once again!” she put one finger on her chin as if to think. “You know, Firefly isn’t a very good guard. Neither is Roden, I can escape whenever they’re guarding me but I can never escape when Viper’s guarding me.”
“Hey Machi!” Michi said, waving at the little girl. He turned to Liana. “Liana this is Machi. She’s been here longer than both of us. Machi this is Liana.”
“I had heard that they had a new captive. How old are you Liana?”
“Three.” Liana said uncertainly.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you. Can you help me find a place to hide?” She said.
Liana looked at Michi as if for permission. Michi nodded his head, thinking it’d be good to keep her mind off of where she was.
“Okay!” Liana said excitedly. Shortly after finding a place for Machi to hide, Roden busted into the room.
“Where is that little devil?!”

“That creep is late! Where the hell is he?!” I said in frustration. I tapped my foot, arms crossed, and had a scowl on my face. Everyone looked toward me when they heard me yell but I didn’t care; I was more worried about Liana than what people thought of me.
“Calm down. He was only supposed to be here a minute ago.”
I didn’t calm down. “He’s just trying to mess with me isn’t he! He’s trying to make me want to punch his lights out as soon as I see him! Well it’s not going to work!”
“Kairi, stop talking.”
“No! I will not be silen-” His lips were suddenly on mine in a gentle kiss. When he finally pulled away, we stared at each other for a few seconds. I blushed profusely. Then I did what any normal girl would have done, I slapped his face.
“You stole my first kiss!!!!! How dare you steal my first kiss!!! I can’t believe you!!! What the hell were you thinking?!?!?”
“Well, it got you to shut up for a few seconds.”
“Try it again, I dare you! See what happens next time you try and kiss me.” That’s was I was saying on the outside but on the inside it was different. He kissed you. He stole your first kiss. You have the right to be mad at him.
But why do I feel this way? I don’t love him. I only met him this morning!
It’s because you’re mad. That’s what you are feeling, anger.
I’ve been angry before; this is not anger.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when Kai waved his hand in front of my face. “Hello. Anyone home?” I smacked his hand away.
“E-excuse me.” A girl with long, dirty blond hair and hazel eyes, walked up to us. Every few steps she looked back, uncertainly. I stared behind her to see what she was looking at, whatever it was, she seemed scared.
“Come with me.” I said hastily, grabbing her wrist. She was coming weather she liked it or not. After a few feet of dragging her, seeing as she was unwilling to come by herself, she yanked her wrist out of my grasp.
“I don’t like being bossed around.” She said malice in her voice. Kai, who had been walking quietly behind us, stepped in front of her. “Would you mind telling us your name, Ms. Blondie?
“Ms. Blondie?! Where the hell did you come up with that name?!”
“Maybe it was your blond hair.”
“This is dirty blond! There’s a difference between blond and dirty blond.”
“Fine, Ms. Dirty Blondie.”
I just noticed something about Kai; he’s really good at pissing people off, kind of like Roden.
Roden.
“Kai! We forgot about Roden!”
He gave me a weird look. “How do you come up with the most random things? We weren’t even talking about Roden. Never mind, your logic is probably too random for me.”
“Let’s just go back and see if we didn’t miss Roden.”
“Oh yeah, here.” Ms. Dirty Blond said in a hyper voice. “Some dude with white hair, red eyes, and a gun, gave me this note to give to you two. He told me if I read it, I would be shot.”
“Is that why you kept looking back?” I asked, curiously.
“Si, senor.” She said, saluting.
“Did you just call me a guy?!” I asked, angrily.
“Si, senor.” She said, saluting again.
I was about to hit her for being annoying when, as if reading my thoughts, Kai put his hand on my shoulder and gave me a reprimanding look.
Normally, I would have shrugged off the look and slugged her right then but his eyes, they could make me do anything they wanted. And for some reason, that look made me stop what I was doing, I looked up at him and he looked down at me; he was much taller than me.
“Could you two stop staring in each other’s eyes like a couple of love birds? It’s making me sick.” Ms. Dirty Blond said with a look of repugnance on her face.
My eyes slowly and reluctantly tore away from his and turned into a glare as I looked at her giddy face. “Just doing my job.” She said proudly, giggling to herself. Her giggled sounded like it was sent from hell just to annoy me.
I rolled my eyes. Kai still hadn’t taken his eyes off me and it was starting to make me uncomfortable.
