Revenge Is Sweet
Chapter 5
“What the hell is wrong with you?!?!” Kitra yelled.
“What?” I said, acting innocent.
“Why did you try and throw me over your shoulder?!”
“Well, it worked when I did it to Kairi. You know, you and Kairi are a lot alike.”
This seemed to piss Kitra off to no end. “I am nothing like that girl.” She said angrily. “Don’t even try and compare us.”
“Come on let’s go.” I said, confused at her reaction.
Kitra seemed to calm down a little as we continued to search for Kairi. I sent Kitra to search another part of the forest. After a few minutes of searching on my own, I saw something through the trees; it was Kairi. I crept up quietly to her, but before I got there I heard her say something; she was talking to herself. She would say something and then quiet down as if listening for an answer.
“I know it was childish of me to run away.” She said, then was quiet. After a few seconds she said, “No, I don’t hate Kitra, I just don’t like her.” Again she was quiet. After another few seconds, she jumped up and yelled, “Of course not! Are you crazy?!” When she jumped up, she whirled around at the same time so she saw me.
“Kairi, are you okay?”
She looked down. “Yeah, I’m fine.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Yes! I’m fine!” she yelled. I looked at her curiously but let the subject drop.
“We have to find Kitra before she gets lost or something.”
“Oh, she decided to tag along?” she said with spite in her tone.
What do these two have against each other? I asked myself, not understanding women. It was then that I decided: Women are too complicated for men to understand.
It seemed women always knew what other women are thinking and feeling. To tell you the truth, I found it very weird and, at times, scary.
“I’m not going anywhere.” I wasn’t going stand for this.
“You are coming. You don’t have any choice in the matter.” I said as I grabbed her wrist and yanked her up onto my shoulder and started running. Surprisingly, she didn’t fight it this time. She just stayed perfectly still.

By the time Roden and Machi stopped yelling at each other, it was bedtime. A few minutes before, Firefly had brought in dinner. In Liana’s opinion, Firefly was really nice, not like Roden or that Viper guy.
Liana didn’t want to go to sleep. It had only been a day but she was beginning to doubt that Kairi was coming to get her. She would never tell anyone else this, but deep in her heart, she hoped Kairi didn’t come for her. She didn’t want Kairi getting hurt; even though she missed her sister, she didn’t mind staying here if it meant Kairi was safe. It was like an older sister protecting a younger sister but this time, it was the other way around. Liana prayed that night that Kairi was safe and wasn’t worrying too much, but she knew Kairi, she worried a lot about Liana.

Kairi’s POV
I didn’t fight it when Kai put me over his shoulder again. To tell the truth, I kind of liked it. I really didn’t want to find Kitra but I knew Kai wasn’t going to leave her. He was too nice for his own good. I liked it better when Kai and I are alone. A few minutes into the journey to find Kitra, he decided that instead of over his shoulder, he would carry me bridal style, but again, I didn’t fight it. Instead of talking to Kai, I started thinking.
I don’t have time to fall in love with anyone!
Come on, Kairi, no one was ever hurt from falling in love.

I mentally glared at the voice. Romeo and Juliet.
They don’t count! They weren’t real!
Listen, for all I know they could be torturing her and Michi! For all I know, they could be starving them or something!

Unwanted tears started rolling down my face. It was right now that I wished he was carrying me over his shoulder so he couldn’t see my tears, but it was too late, he had already stopped running and sat me on a conveniently placed tree stump.
“What’s wrong, Kairi?” He said demandingly, determined to get an answer out of me this time.
I turned my head away from him, showing him that I wasn’t going to say anything to answer his question. He roughly grabbed my face and turned it back towards him, I gave a small yelp of surprise as a sudden pain was sent shooting through my face. Tears started rolling down my face. He looked me straight in the eyes. I closed my eyes. I wasn’t going to let him win and just staring into his eyes would have assured his victory.
“Kai. You’re hurting me.” I said in a quiet voice full of pain.
He let go of my face. “Damn it, Kairi. Why do you have to be so difficult?” He didn’t yell this like I had expected him to. It was a quiet voice like mine had been but it was full of concern.
No one had ever been concerned about me before, not even my mom. Anytime I was hurt, She’d just say, “Stop crying, you’re okay.” or “Crying isn’t going to make anything better.” I still loved my mother though, because even though she was never concerned about me, I knew she loved me.
I didn’t know how to act when someone was truly concerned about me. I felt like a fool, not seeing that everything Kai was doing was out of concern for me. Again, he was too nice for his own good.
“Kai. Listen, I’m sor—”
“Thanks for coming to get me after you found her, Kai.” Kitra burst through the undergrowth saying, sarcastically.
“Kitra. We were looking for you.” Kai said.
She put her hand up to stop him from saying anything else. “Don’t worry, I get it. You wanted to spend some alone time with your ‘girlfriend’.” She said, angrily.
Kai was silent. Why isn’t her denying it? I questioned.
Maybe he likes you too.
Oh, joy. It’s you again.
I said to the voice, sardonically.
I know you missed me.
I couldn’t have missed you; you weren’t even gone five minutes.
Oh, I didn’t know you loved me that much.

I rolled my eyes. I made sure no one saw that because I had already made a fool of myself twice today; I didn’t want to do it three times.

Kai’s POV
She apparently thought no one saw her roll her eyes but I did. Kitra didn’t seem to notice it. I was about to ask her about it but figured it would get her to ignore me again.
“Come guys, it’s getting late. We should find somewhere to sleep.” I said, trying not to start another fight.
“I know!” Kitra exclaimed. She must be bipolar or something. “I’ll use my magic wand to make a clearing in the trees!” she said as she seized the wand that was God knows where on her. She had absolutely no where to hide a wand. I took a closer look at the wand to find out it was just a plastic stick; not to mention it was pink. Not only was this girl bipolar, she’s crazy too.
“Kitra—” I started but she held her hand up to silence me as she started chanting nonsense.
She closed her eyes and concentrated. After a few seconds of chanting, she opened her eyes.
“What?! Why didn’t my magic work?!?!? Stupid cheap wand! Stupid cheap toystore! You told me it would work!!!!!! Stupid, stupid, stupid wand!!!” she screamed as she threw the wand. It just so happened that Kairi was standing right where she threw it.
“What the hell did you do that for?!?!” she yelled, rubbing her head where the wand had hit.
“It was an accident!” Kitra shouted back.
“Lair! You did it on purpose!” Kairi said throwing the wand back at Kitra. Catfight I thought and backed up to get out of range of fire.
The wand, at the force that Kairi had thorwn it, hit Kitra in the stomach and knocked the air away from her. After stumbling backward and regaining her composure, Kitra lunged at Kairi who easily dodged her. Kitra got back up and lunged again at Kairi. Kairi dodged again.
“Why aren’t you trying to hit me?” Kitra yelled punching at Kairi. All Kairi was doing was dodging all of Kitra’s attacks.
“Because if I were to bring out my full potential, you’d be dead.” Kairi said.
“I don’t believe you.” Kitra said tauntingly, taking another shot at Kairi.
“Oh really? I’ve trained since I was 8 to take care of myself; this includes learning to fight. Even before my mother died, she trained me to survive.”
I decided I was going to have to stop this before Kairi really got serious. I walked up behind Kitra and wrapped my arms around her to stop her from swinging at Kairi again. “We still have to find a place to sleep.” I said.

Kairi’s POV
Kitra, it wasn't my fault.
