Amusing Thoughts About the Strange Emotinal States of Humans
Preapre for bashing of the human race because we friggin' deserve it.
Okay, so I've had some more conclusions and other likewise things. And, of course, they revolve around guys. Not that I'm a total man-hater, but some days they bug me to the point where I need to bust a few heads.

However, today, I am more interested in the problem of boyfriends.

I have plenty of friends, but only two or three do I know have boyfriends. In fact, I only know two of them who've had boyfriends. And I have to say, they are two very distinct, different cases.

The first revolves around someone I know well. I'm not happy she's dating at all. In my head, I think she's just a little too young to date. I know, that sounds like I'm trying to be a mom here, but dating just seems a little bit too...useless during the teenage years of life. What are you and your boyfriend going to do? With this first case, the person in question has a boyfriend, but her friends aren't particularly happy about the fact because she seems to be ignoring them.

With a boyfriend, you have to understand that it's a catch-22 if you're young. Your parents aren't going to trust you with Bob, Joe, Billy, Dan, or whoever. Okay, correction: they don't trust Bob, Joe, Billy, Dan, or whoever with you. So, what do you do? You can't be alone. You take friends with you, but you end up ignoring them, be it intentional or otherwise. And then, if you hang with your friends more than your boyfriend, he gets angry.

And besides, you can't trust yourself to be with a guy if you're under the age of 25. Hell, you can't trust guys unless they're over the age of 30. Even then it gets iffy... Either way, you are stepping right into Temptation's Little Shop of Horrors just sitting with a guy alone in your house watching a movie. There are all types of subtle aspects to, frankly, foreplay. If you pay close enough attention, you can see it around the couples you know. Most of the time, though, foreplay isn't all that subtle. Either way, it's a road that leads away from abstinence, which is a bad thing, obviously.

However, there is another case in question. These two people have been together since I can remember them. Sure, they had disputes. They'd had their pet peeves about one another, but they managed to work it out. They balanced their friends and their alone time well, so that they don't end up shunning either their friends or each other. They tend to keep their affectionate feelings for one another contained until the end of the school day when, to my chagrin, they end up either rubbing noses or hugging.

All I'm saying is that a boyfriend is okay at the right time. But sometimes it's not your place to say when the right time is. It's either your parents or your friends. They've got your best interests in mind, and are willing to look past what you want to get to what you need. Sometimes you have to ask yourself if it's all really worth the drama. It is possible to have a boyfriend and not have drama.

I know it sounds like a rant against all boyfriends, but honestly I'm not. I'm just saying its better to wait then to just go off and have at immediately.

As much as I despise Romeo and Juliet, there was one passage that sparked my interest.

These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which, as they kiss, consume. The sweetest honey
Is loathsome in his own deliciousness
And in the taste confounds the appetite.
Therefore love moderately: long love doth so;
Too swift arrives as tardy too slow.
- Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare (Act II, Scene VI, lines 9-15)
