Rated R for Rambling; and yes it is all about Yugioh, so if you haven't seen the show, don't read this.

For some reason I've been kinda getting back into Yugioh lately...it's kinda unusual for me. Well, maybe not unusual that I'm picking up an old fandom, but unusual that it's Yugioh just because I wasn't that into it. I've always thought it was too showy and most of the monsters are really ugly. It's just really interesting for a kids show...that whole duel personality (pun unintended) concept is something that can be played with in a lot of ways. You almost always have good vs evil, but I don't think the concept of self vs self gets as much attention. It isn't even one character who has to deal with a yami; it's all three who have a millenium item. I really like the contrast between Ryou and Yugi especially; they're very similar, but also have their differences. Ryou is shyer, and you get the feeling he'd be more of a coward, while Yugi is more outgoing (don't take that wrong; I actually think I like Ryou more). Ryou also ends up with the evil Yami who comes from the Item that is supposed to reveal things (it could be equated with truth). Yugi gets the puzzle which has the kinder spirit, despite the fact Yugi probrably could've handled Ryou's yami and kept him from getting out of control better than Ryou could. The puzzle holds a lot of secrets, and is quick to keep things hidden; it could almost be equated with deceit. So essentially Truth equals evil, and Deceit equals good? Maybe you could interpret it as those who have the truth shoved at them are likely to go down the wrong road, while those who seek it will eventually find it, but it's still something pretty deep for a kids show.

Okay, yeah, I'm probrably reading too much into it. It's still interesting to think about though.
