As some of you know, I got a 3DS back in August. I've had most of the Nintendo handheld systems. Original Gameboy, GB Color, GB Pocket, GBA, GBA SP, DS lite and now, the 3DS. Had a case since the GBA. Used that case with the GBA, GBA SP, DS lite and the 3DS, for a while. So I got a lot of use out of it. Love it. However, has no slots for 3DS games, obviously. So... I ordered one. Just got it in the mail.
The case I ordered is the Hori 3DS Compact Case. Comes in either black or blue. I went with the black one. It cost me a little over $10 (ordered it from some ransom site that accepted paypal). It holds the 3DS, 3 games (3DS or DS). Can also fit a few extra small things in it. I put my microfiber cloth, AR cards and an extra stylus in mine. With the microfiber cloth sort of wrapped around the 3DS, to help prevent scratches from any of the other goodies in the case.
It's a very slim case. I even managed to fit it into the old GBA case, just for the heck of seeing if it'd fit.
So why this case and not a larger case that holds more games? This case cost about $10. Hori also makes game card cases that range in price. One I'm looking at holds 24 games and is about $10. Larger 3DS cases, like the Pull & Go Case, cost around $20 or more. For price, the 2 Hori products balance with $20 game cases at the sacrifice of not being able to hold maybe a charger and 3-4 more games. Personally, I've had a small game case + another case for my games for so long, I prefer it this way.
Two most important things about 3DS cases:
1. Research the cases. Compare prices, what they hold, what you need it to hold and any accessories it may come with.
2. Get a case you like. If you just got a 3DS and have only a small number of games, you probably don't need the 3DS Messenger Bag (holds around 60 games, a system, accessories and more).
