Spike and Isolde having one of their heated encounters. Viper overhears, and when Isolde leaves he goes to Spike and starts aggravating him about his taste for the girl. He says "Can't keep her all to yourself, now, Spikey boy. You have to share. Tell you what, I'll give you ten gold pieces if I can get her first." and Spike totally flips and they get into a huge all-out brawl that Elan walks into. They eventually break apart and Viper storms off, making a comment about Nidia, and Spike shouts after him that he never loved her the way he did and just wait, he'll bring her back. Elan, realizing that they intend to bring someone back from the dead, starts begging with Spike not to do it, telling him that she won't be the woman he knew but something dark and unnatural. "She died for a reason! You were never supposed to be with her, you're supposed to be with Isolde!" and he tells her to shut her mouth before he shuts it for her, then he walks off before she can stop him. And it's like five minutes after all that that Elan and Lia both get snatched by a white dragon.

The dragon takes both girls up to the top of the highest mountain, to a cave filled with amazing and beautiful treasures. And two skeletons.... Gulp. Lia tries to keep Elan calm and the dragon occupied with stories of anything and everything she can think of. They are in the freezing cave for three nights and four days before Gavin and Drake come to the cave looking for the dragon. Only hours later, though, the rest of the group arrives and William quickly, and easily, kills the lonely peaceable dragon. The ice dragon had been a good one, considered a traitor by all the others for her sympathy and compassion for humans. She'd been completely alone for a hundred years up in that cave and only wanted some company. She was about to let Elan and Lia leave freely with Gavin and Drake when she was killed. The four (gavin, drake, lia, and elan) mourn the loss of a friend, but Spike and Viper claim the stone and wish back Nidia.
