Elizabeth's Sentiment Chapter 2: The Reason We Fought
We were the kings and queens of promise,
We were the victims of ourselves...

Quote:
Regaining our strength and healing from Leafe's onslaught, we found ourselves amidst a mysterious god-like jury set on passing judgement on us for our transgressions. Bound by our pasts, we found ourselves in the grip of a judge who brought before us our wrongs.

While I won't spare all the details (not all of which were important, although to the rest being tried they were substantial) my turn to take the stand ultimately came. The visage of thousands of people being slain was sickening, but I'm not denying fault. I felt alone, and although my fans excited me, I never really staked them as being there for me or being someone at my side.

My punishment was a twisted silence: one in which I couldn't speak, move, or make a sound as I watched my friends suffer by their own judgments. If I moved, the bonds holding me would grow tighter, more thorny. Then, what felt like hours in hell ended as quickly as they came: with us back on Earth.

I approached the headmaster to speak of it, but our focus on the upcoming battle was more important. However, our plans to begin the battle took a backseat. Those of us from the Order and a few others were invited to dinner. None of us really recognized him at the time, but the man who invited us to feast was the son of the same man we were planning to stop. Leafe was none-too-pleased to find us there and expelled everyone.

The day of the true battle came. Arcanjelo and the grandmaster Angelus combined their power, but all would not be as swift as it seemed. Leafe was buying time. With an active castle, we found ourselves divided, wandering a maze-like castle.

When I reached he ball-room, I saw what appeared to be my own reflection. The dopple ganger moved beyond the reflective walls, however and attacked. She spat my thoughts and fears like venom, but then brought up my thoughts of Arcanjelo, mocking them. She claimed I was denying my obvious feelings, that the man was more than a good friend.

I retaliated, feeling she had pushed the issue too far and lashed out as viciously as she, eventually finishing the battle. She sunk back into the crystal floor, defeated but not before making one last remark regarding Arcanjelo's approaching death. By the time I lashed out and struck the floor, my reflection vanished.

Crossing the hall, I came upon a grand, crystalline room filled with towering statues of royalty, knights, and large horse-like lizards, busts, and paintings. Engraved in the wall around the door was the royal crest: an indicator I had finally found my way through the labyrinth.

Let me elaborate on the reason for our being there. Leafe was going to use the Earth to recreate his planet and revive his people. Believing the people of earth to be undeserving of live, he pursued bringing back a pure people. We stood in defense of our planet, some of us offering the possibility of bringing his people back to life without the loss of human life.

He stood his ground and we all clashed. We all pursued our ideals, but I was truly foolish. I couldn't get the doppleganger's remark out of my head, so I rushed to his defense. However, in doing so, I underestimated Leaferian's power and was caught in the crossfire between Leafe and another swordsman.

As I fell apart, I wanted to at least let Arcanjelo know how I felt, but I couldn't even get my last word out. I was engulfed in pain and found myself unable to move as the darkness set in and swallowed me whole.

"...maybe the children of a lesser god
between Heaven and Hell...
Heaven and Hell..."
