Why people are insane, take one :

When I'm down, like most, I talk to a friend, it helps me relax and it brings clarity to my problems. Tonight, I was speaking to a friend about an addiction I have and how it is a burden to me. It was an important topic because this addiction is currently destroying my creativity.
During the conversation, my friend would only respond to me in smileys which would express her concern (evidently, expressing ourselves in actual words is just too hard for us.) And at the end, she said "I'm sorry, the show I'm watching is really good."

My close friend would rather watch a TV show than try to help me overcome my problems. A TV show is more interesting to her than my life. I don't understand how we have become so detached from the people we care for. I don't understand how we allowed TV shows, apps, computer games, social media websites (including gaia and gaia towns) to become more important than the human beings who we love and care about.
