...and into the fire. *rose*
A conversation held quite some time in the past
"The fifth has come. You have your answer." the three fates said suddenly.

"I..." the demon woman paused, afraid to ask her second question frivolously. The strongest of her demonic line was born every few generations, and she had not been it. But she knew the key to her success was finding the one who would be... or creating the one. She had had half a dozen children of her own, many of them almost fully grown. She hadn't known at what generation the strength came, but the fates had just said the fifth.

'So', she said to herself, "every fifth generation, the strongest demon of the Ailludrahh clan demon is born."

And that one apparently had been born already. But who? The fates, she knew, would not give out a name. She thought carefully about her next question, ensuring she left room for her third, last, and most important question.

"What relation of mine is this fifth?" she asked, her black eyes glittering.

"Granddaughter." The fates answered solemnly.

The demon woman grinned, and then asked her one last question.
It's answer pleased her as well.

I first became aware of noises, odd sounds and tinkerings around. but not very nearby. My memory flooded back to me- I had been flying toward a mountain to my almost certain death, hoping ANTIE would rescue me. My spirit lifted, since, as I tried a few times to open my eyes and saw bright hospital-like lights, I knew I'd been rescued. I moved my arm toward my face to rub my eyes: they felt so sore... and realized that my arms were chained together.

"What the-" I said, rolling to my side to try to sit up. I was on a hospital-type bed, but in a place I'd never seen before. And wherever I was, things did not look friendly indeed.

"Where am I?" I asked as I sat up straight, and immediatly wished I hadn't asked.

From behind me, I heard the response, and every word sent chills running down my spine.

"Why, you are in a hospital, my dear." Luman said, and paused to take a puff on his cigarette. "And you are not fit to be going anywhere. At least, not yet. And don't worry, we'll tell you when you can. And where you can. And what to do."

He paused, and I shuddered. Mostly because I could tell it was a pause. He lengthened it by taking another hit on his cigarette, and blew the smoke across the room, where it hit the back of my head.

"Because, dear Rose, you are ours, now."

I tried to summon calm, tried to use my magic to break the chains, and found I could do neither. I buried my face in my hands and started to cry when I realized that I could no longer touch the magic that had coursed through my veins for as long as I was alive. I felt it there, the magic in me, but as if through a wall which made it seem as if it might not have ever been real. Just imaginary.

Chazu: A couple reasons, I assume. 1. The hospital staff doesn't want to make him angry. 2. He is a true nic-addict 3. He doesn't care about second hand smoke and 4. No one there is going to tell him not to.
I guess that last one is the same as the first, but I'm sure you get the point. >.<
