Today, something very strange happened.
I was swimming through another lake I look over. This lake is located on a walking trail in the forest outside of the city. Few people from the city ever come out here because they're too busy with other aspects of their lives. I guess city life isn't exactly a day on the beach, but I wouldn't know much about that. I'm getting off-topic!
I was swimming about when I heard a loud KER-SPLASH a few metres away. I looked over and I saw great big hooves moving around. I heard another splash, and then a smaller set of four hooves appeared in the water. I decided to swim up and investigate.
The day was very rainy, so I managed to fly up out of the water with no difficulty. Having wet wings doesn't affect my flying skills at all. I flew up and over to the scene, and there I saw a cow moose feeding on the water reeds with her calf. I couldn't help but smile, so I flew over and, as the cow was lifting her head, started to stroke her nose.
"Hello," I said softly. The cow grunted cheerfully in response. "Do you need anything?" She gave a great toss of her head, and the calf tilted his head up and made a light grunt himself.
"What's that?" I ask. "You want some clover? Well, here. I'll fetch some for you."
I zipped into the woods as fast as I could manage and found a lovely little patch of clover sitting by the side of the trail. I immediately started to pick some, when I, very suddenly, heard a voice.
"Hello, there. And what are you, exactly?"
I jumped and spun around, only to look into the eyes of a human, who was standing right there on the trail. I widened my eyes. He had seen me. He had seen my eyes and face.
I quickly gathered up another fistful of clover and I cloaked myself in my dragonfly form. I zipped away to the sound of the human calling, "Wait! Come back!".
I don't know what to think. This has never happened before. I'm going to have to consult the Ocean Sprites about this . . . I'm the only freshwater sprite for miles around and I don't know what to do.
