• 2 in the morning I sit by the tree
gazing at lights blazing colors I see,
not presents or light bulbs nor tinsel and bows
but all of the love these wonders do show
I stare half asleep wrapped up so tight
the warmth of my cover a simple delight
at this tree clothed in happiness, glory, and joy
and get all the glee not brought by a toy.

4 in the morning I sit by the tree
gazing at lights blazing colors I see,
not stockings with toys nor candies and sweets
but see all the caring in loved ones hearts' seats
no longer I'm drowzy, to windows I go
and grin like an elf at the white puffy snow
later I'll play there, make angels and men
til my body's so frozen I have to come in

6 in the morning I look at the tree
gazing at lights blazing colors I see
not wrapped up parcels or gifts big and small
but all the small wonders this day brings us all
once ever year we wake early morning
not bitter but glad with our families joining.
the true heart of Christmas is not what you get
but the way that it feels to be part of it
