• Stately arranged
    this windblown
    fallow ground

    Consecrated, cradling
    cold remains
    of fallen heroes
    while above we walk
    reverent

    Quietus rows
    bound in wrought iron
    and populated
by the bones of the earth

    Forming memories
    chiseled clearly
    this memorandum
    written upon
    hearts aching
    with loss
    and humble pride

    Both stand together
    within
    chests tight
    eyes bright
    memories silently cherished
    as remembrance
    is marked

    Asking not for glory
    but spurning mortal fear
    for purpose immutable

    We question not your sacrifice

    you brave few
    we honor you
    this day
