• Coasing down the street
    Arms outstretched into the air
    Hair flying behind me
    Snowflakes swirling around my face
My bike feels like wings beneath me
    Soaring above the clouds
Toward the sun in the sky
    Eyes shut tight
    Forgetting the pavement beneath me
    I belong to another world

A blaring horn wakens me from my dream
    My eyes snap open
    And
    My hand seizes the brake
I can feel the gust of wind hit me
I could have gone one more inch in my dream
    I was one inch
    From that blaring car
    One more inch
    On that snowy winter day
And I really would have been
    Soaring in the sky

    Cocking my head
    I say,
"I forgot...I need to stop sometimes."
