• 10 little elves playing in the shop,
    Just then one decided to stop.
    He went outside to watch the stars shine,
    And suddenly there were nine.

    9 little elves loading up the sled,
    One fell down and bumped his head.
    The others slowly finished crate after crate,
    Sadly, now there's only eight.

    8 little elves hammered on the toys,
    One left to watch the other girls and boys.
    He then seen Santa fly to heaven.
    His sneaky departure now makes seven.

    7 little elves sat in their class,
    One got kicked out for giving sass.
    The rest sat and watched educated flicks.
    Now the principal states, "There's only six."

    6 little elves sawing down a tree,
    Joshua scampered off when he heard a bee.
    The others ran screaming when they found a hive.
    Lucky for Joshua, the others made five.

    5 little elves were ringing bells,
    One gently stopped when she broke a nail.
    She walked away so quietly, they never heard the door.
    When the others looked up, there were only four.

    4 little elves painting on a chair,
    One ran off when she colored her hair.
    The other elves laughed, "He he!"
    Her embarrassment made a number of three.

    3 little elves sitting around a fire,
    One got too close and made a flaming attire.
    The others managed to put him out with a wooden shoe.
    His battered bruises left only two.

    2 little elves singing a jolly song,
    One misses a note and gets sent along.
    The other continues with her own fun,
    But now there is only one.

    1 little elf sat lonely and crying on the floor,
    Because she knows the others won't be coming through the door.
    Santa tells her she can help him because she was the only one.
    They walked off together, making the number of elves none!
