The Special Day
I ventured in a white wonderland
Hand in hand with Jack Frost
With the St. Nicolus in tow
Touring cotton paths of snow
Bright colourful lights draped on houses
Not a sound to be heard except maybe a field mouse
The big night before children's eyes are all a glow
To see on the joyous day presents to and frow
Sounds of hooves on rooftops
And the jingle of bells
Keeping little ones awake
Trying oh so much
As the song goes
To be good for goodness sake
Then on the morning of the blessed day
Sweet scents of gingerbread and peppermind fill the air
But the little ones
Care not for sweets
It's what's under the tree
That have the treats
Jack gives me a wink
"Just think, we wait for this all year
The special day is near
Though try not to forget
What this day is truly about
Not the presents
Not the treats
It's gathering with those you love
On the birthday from your creator above"
