Skin
Skin
Soft, subtle skin
the unlined brow of a baby
or the wrinkles of a grandmother
the flesh of a friend
a hand in times of need
and the flesh of foe
grappling hand against hand
hands, with lines
so many lines
crossing, bisecting, interconnecting
flowing from pinky to index
and wrist to thumb
a maze, a puzzle, of skin
the softness of the crooks
the gentle curves
and the sandpaper feeling of the corners
the sharp angles
all skin, layers upon layers of skin
beneath it, muscle
veins pulsating with the flow of life
to the beat of the drum,
in time with the rhythm of the stars and the galaxys
encased in skin is the universe
you, encased in skin
are my universe
so give me your hand
and let me feel your skin

Description:
This poem uses our one uniting factor to express a longing for someone.
Its funny that we have so much prejudice in the world over skin color when it's so unifying to me...I mean, we all have skin, right?
the image was inspired by this poem though there seems to be little relation...

- Interesting, but you misspelled "galaxies" and on the second to last line you should take out "skin" since "Skin" is the last line anyway. Kind of redundant. 4/5
