• Slanting rays of sun fall across snow,
    deepening darkness and fading light
    crystaline frost, north winds blow
the world turns towards longest night

Shiver and cower against the dark
the end of the year is nigh
Say goodbye to the Oak king's bark
and welcome the Holly lord by

    Gather 'round friends and family
the darkness is no reason to mope
    celebrate the solstice cheerily
and remember love, joy and hope

In days long gone by winter killed
and stole the lives of young, old and weak
    today we are merely chilled
and it's of yuletide traditions we speak

The stringing of lights, finding a tree
    gifts and feasts and songs
all call back to days when we were free
    of Yule's commercial throngs
