When the holidays come 'round, I feel strangely out of place,
I don't have to go shopping or to join the frantic race,
I have no need to decorate, not even dress the tree,
No slaving over stoves all day, no cooking done by me.
All that I have to do is be as good as I can be,
So why is that just not enough? It's really simple, see,
I want to shop until I drop, buy presents for my friends,
Put wreaths and holly through the house, with angels to no end.
I want to cook a royal feast, for family in the den,
I want to give all that I've got, not stay on the receiving end.
It's what I want for Christmas, to give gifts from me to you,
But I'm a child, so 'til I'm old, this poem will have to do.
