• When the black hared women entered the bar every one turned to stare. Her eyes were cold and emotionless, yet the cloudy grey seemed to draw people to them. She walked over to the VIP section and had a seat; her movements were swift and graceful, like a cat. But truth be told she was more like a panther. The bartender walked over to her. “What can I get you?” The women smiled. “How about a warm red…” Her voice was soft and delicate, yet dark. The man nodded and led the women into a back room, where a young man sat. “Don’t kill this one…” The bartender left the room when the women nodded. The young man sat quietly as the women walked closer. He tensed when she leaned over him, and let out a whimper when she extended her fangs and bit down into his neck. She drank his blood slowly, and pulled away when she had had enough to survive. The young man looked up at her as she turned and left the room. She nodded to the bartender as she walked out of the bar. Waiting out side of the bar for the women was a young brown hared man with the same cloudy grey eyes. “You took your time Luna… can we go now?” The women, Luna, nodded and got into a black corvette, followed by the man. “Sorry Mathew, I forgot you were a full breed…” Mathew shrugged. “No worries Luna, if I could be a high breed like you I would… No one else was a fairy before they were turned…” Luna smiled slightly. “I guess your right.” She wasn’t going to tell him that soon she would have to return to the fairy court for her punishment for leaving, or that she would probably not be coming back. He would want nothing to do with her after she got her punishment… No one would. Mathew who at this time was muttering every curse word under the sun interrupted Luna’s thoughts. They were twenty minutes from the nearest safe house, twenty-two minutes from dawn and they had a fifteen minute long wait as the cops searched the passing cars. Even if he got out and ran he would not make it to the safe house. “Luna…” She nodded, she knew the only way Mathew would make it was if she used her magic. She muttered the spell under her breath as her hands danced around in strange patterns. With a blinding flash the two of them disappeared, only to reappear inside a large building with no windows and very pale lights. The man driving the car sighed when the two vampires vanished. Once her breathing returned to normal Luna laid down on the couch, next to Mathew, who by this time was already asleep. Since becoming a vampire Luna thought of Mathew as an older brother that she had to look out for. Even though she thought of Mathew like family and thought it would hurt them both, she would have to leave. Mathew rolled over in his sleep causing Luna to fall onto the floor. She stood up slowly and walked to her room, closing the door behind her and laid down, falling asleep. A few hours later Luna awoke from another dreamless sleep. She had a shower, got dressed, in a black tank, dark blue jeans, and knee high black high heel boots. She walked out of her room; she was not surprised to see that sometime in the last bit Mathew had moved to his room, leaving the couch a mess. “Men…” Luna walked into the kitchen to brew a pot of coffee, by the time it was done Mathew was sitting on the couch watching T.V. “Want to bring me a cup?” Luna sighed and sat down. “No.” Mathew got up muttering while Luna sat drinking her coffee. “Suck it up.” Mathew got his coffee and sat down sticking his tong out at her. “Shut it.” Luna shrugged. “ Stay here on your own then.” She finished her coffee, got up and walked out the door. Luna could hear Mathew yelling at her to come back but she ignored him. She stormed around for a few hours before she realised that she was standing at the entrance to the hidden fairy court. Taking a deep breath, Luna walked through the magical gateway and was standing inside the ballroom of a castle inside the fairy world. Luna felt a shudder run through her as every one in the room turned to look at her. The fairies cleared a path for her to get to the throne, where an elegant women with silver hair and emerald green eyes sat. Luna took another deep breath and walked along the path to the Queen. She dropped to one knee and bowed her head. “Your highness, I have come to receive my punishment for abandoning the court.” The Queen nodded. “First Luna you must remove the glamour you have placed upon yourself.” Luna nodded and muttered something under her breath causing her form to change. Her once pale skin now had a golden tint to it, her ears became pointed, her grey eyes became a pale blue and from her back sprang gold and silver wings. “ This will only take a minute…” The Queens voice sounded angry, maybe even jealous. The only person who had seen the Queens wing's was Luna, and Luna knew that they were ugly compared to hers. Luna felt a sudden serge of energy then she sat there as her wings turned black, her eyes turned grey and her skin lost its golden tint. She turned swiftly and left the castle. She put the glamour back on and walked back towards the safe house. Luna stopped at a park and sat down on a bench. She watched as afternoon turned into evening and then to dusk. That was why she was not shocked to find that Mathew was now next to her. “ What’s wrong Luna… and where did you go?” Luna looked at the ground. “I went back to the fairy court… and I had to get something…” Mathew jumped up. “ Why the hell did you go back there? You know that if you go there you will…” Luna nodded. “Yeah…. So now that its done I’m leaving…” Mathew just stared at her, a look of shock and horror. “But where will you go? You have no home but here!” Luna shrugged and got up, walking to the safe house. Mathew followed her into the house, to her room and watched as Luna packed her bags to leave. “Bye bro…” She hugged him as she walked past him and out the door. Luna walked to the garage and climbed into a red viper. Tossing her bags into the back seat. Mathew was standing in the doorway to the house when Luna pulled out of the garage and down the drive onto the street. She waved at him as she drove away. Even though she left him there Luna knew he would be keeping tabs on her some how. Luna drove out of the city two hours later, heading south towards a small town along the Pacific Ocean. It was one of many small towns that dared to start a life along the oceans. It had been almost 100 years since the ice burgs had melted and the oceans swallowed up most of the land, not that it mattered. Most of the world’s population now lived in floating cities all over the place and all of them were joined by bridges. It was on one of these cities that Luna would move to. No one would bug her, Mathew hated water, fairies hated iron and not many demons could stand the ever-constant fish smell. The only things she would have to worry about were shelter, food, work and angels, maybe a few wiccans. With in five hours Luna sat in a hotel in roadstead, a small town about a half-hour drive of the nearest bridge. Luna had just laid down when there was a knock at the door. She stood, walked to the door and opened it. “Hello… Can I help you?” Standing at her door was a young girl with deep red hair, brown eyes, and a silly smile. “ Mathew sent me to watch over you.” Luna rolled her eyes and let the girl in. “Should have known…” The girl laughed. “ Yeah… I’m Savannah… and I’m a demon…” Luna sighed. “Not something you should be proud of…” Savannah shrugged and sat down on the only chair in the room while Luna laid back down and went to sleep. When Luna woke up Savannah was asleep on the floor. She got up, grabbed her bags and left the hotel room, leaving the keys at the front desk, she got into her car, tossed her bags in the back and drove towards the bridge. Half way to the bridge Savannah appeared in the passenger seat. “That was rude you know. How dare you just up and leave while I was sleeping!” Luna sighed. “Well I’m very rude then… so just leave me alone!” Savannah pouted. “But Mathew made me promise to look after you.” Luna stopped the car on the side of the road. “I don’t care. Get out of my car and go back to Mathew. NOW!” Savannah continued to pout as she got out of the car and began to walk back to roadstead. Luna waited tell Savannah was out of sight then she pulled back onto the road and continued on her way to the bridge. The rest of her drive to the main floating city for this part of the world was quiet and uneventful. Luna was glad that no more of Mathew’s friends would show up, though she missed having someone to talk to. But if she was going to learn to live in this new place she would have to learn to live on her own without having someone to talk to. Even if it meant she would have to get a pet. Luna pulled into the parking lot of a small hotel. She walked over to the front desk and requested a room. The man behind the desk looked at her then slammed a key down. “$10.20 a night.” Luna nodded and pulled $20.40 out of her pocket. The man took the money and nodded to Luna. She took the key and walked to her room, flopping down on the bed. Tomorrow she would look for a job and a house. Tell then she would sleep. And with that she drifted into sleep…
