• A dirty bathroom in the basement of an abandoned apartment complex. Green, mossy filth splattered on the walls and floor, mixing with the crimson that was trickling out of the small, mousy man that was chained to the overturned, rusting bathtub. He didn’t look a day over twenty five, with a head of thick blond hair and a smooth face that was temporarily immune to the decay of time. Dried blood caked a good portion of his face, but it was concentrated specifically on his chin. It was strange; however, that his eyes retained some spark in them, even though his situation was hopeless.
On the other side of the grimy, filthy bathroom was another man, this one wearing a clean, pressed suit. Leaning against the wall behind him was a wooden baseball bat. Both men had a large amount of similarities between them; both had blond hair, blue eyes, and a slender, athletic build. However, The seated man had hair fading to white and receding, eyes a dull, blue steel as opposed to the electric sapphire of the chained man’s, and while the man chained to the tub looked like he was full of vitality and life, the man in the chair looked underfed and malnourished. The man in the chair rose, grabbing the bat from behind him and approaching the man chained to the tub.
“Well…” he growled in his throaty, gravelly voice, “it seems we are at it again…” He took slow, sure steps towards the chained man who simply looked up at him. “Why don’t you just give up?” the suit continued.
The chained man coughed before replying. “T-the police…they’ll come.”
The suit laughed as he brought the bat down upon the man, cracking a few ribs in the process. “Don’t you see?” he snarled as the chained man coughed up blood. “No one is coming for you because no one cares. The sooner you admit that, the better.”
The chained man groaned and spat out more blood. “Th-They’ll come. You’ll see…they’ll come.”
The man in the suit swung the bat again. “You are ******** stupid. There is no hope for you, not here, not anywhere.”
“You’ll see…” the man in chains retorted again, more and more blood pouring from his mouth. The man in the suit growled, becoming irritated to the point where he brought the bat across the chained man’s face, knocking out several teeth. A siren could be heard off in the distance, rapidly growing louder as the police car approached the building, the chained man grinning a bloody, toothless grin that faded just as quickly as the passing sirens did.
