• Chapter 2
"Icepaw, the sun is still up, would you like to go hunting fo the first time?" asked Mousetail.
I was instantly filled with excitement. I could now hunt for the Clan!
"Could I?" I asked, trying not to sound to eager.
"Of course you can, can you imagine an apprentice not hunting? That would be terrible! Come on, lets hunt by darkcaves, there is always something over there. Maybe you'll catch vole or something, maybe even a pheasant! They like to cool of in the shade over there." said Mousetail
"I hope I catch a pheasant on my first try!" I said, so excited I couldn't hold it in any longer.
"Well, I highly doubt that. After all, you really haven't had any hunting lessons." said Mousetail
"Well, why are you taking me hunting then?"I asked hopeing to get a move on.
"I'm taking you hunting so that I know what I need to teach you, and what you already know." She said, starting to get a little annoyed.
"Well lets go already then!" I exclaimed
"Okay, follow me. Very closely, remember, so that you don't get lost. Also never forget that this is the way to darkcaves, you may need to know this in the future." Mousetail meowed very clamly.
We started running toward darkcaves. Mousetail picked up the pace when we left camp, it was hard to catch up. As we walked down the trail to the darkcaves I ran as fast as I could to catch up with her. When I finally caught up to her we where at darkcaves. There were three caves, one was filled with light and the other two were in pure darkness. The one filled with light was on the right.
I could hear a rustling in the bushes next to the second cave. I dropped down to my haunches. I slowly walked towards the bush. When I got up on it I jumped on top of it, but there was nothing there. I decided to look around the cave. The walls were very smooth, as if SpiritClan themselves carved the walls. The floor was very damp. Almost like there had been a downpoor of water, but it hadn't rained for weeks. I looked around one more time before leaving and right in front of me was Snowbird. I just stood there in amazment.
"Icepaw, you are the chosen one." said Snowbird.
"You sound like a rogue. You can't tell the future." I said, staring at her blindly.
"I never could before. It feels like... like I'm soaring through the future. Icepaw, you are the chosen one never forget that. I will be you guardian. I will walk you path and warn you of coming danger." She said with hope in her eyes.
"What are you mumbling about Snowbird? Why did you come out here to scare me for? I am now an apprentice. I will change your bedding and take out your ticks if you need me to. I need to get back to hunting, I will see you at camp in a little bit." I told her.
"I will not be there for I walk in the stars now. Take care Icepaw." she said standing there.
"Yeah right. Mousetail, Snowbird came out here to scare me." I yelled.
When she got here she looked around the dark cave.
"Icepaw, no one is here. The amount of light was probably tricking you. If you're not going to take this seriously we'll just go back to camp." said Mousetail.
"But she saw right there." I said whipping around, and no one was there. "She was there just a second ago. When we get back to camp she'll probably still be trying to beat us back!'
"Okay. We're going back to camp now, and I'm sure we'll beat Snowbird back" she said starting to get annoyed.
Mousetail lead the way back to camp. When we got there I immediately ran to the elders den. Snowbird wasn't there.
"See Mousetail, Snowbird isn't there." I said with pride in my voice.
"That's because she died a couple of minutes ago. In her sleep." said Speclepath with greif in her voice, "She's in the middle of the camp. Foxsky is sittig vigil with her."
"Oh, I should go and give my last respect's. Good-bye Speclepath." I said felling absoulately terrible.
I walked to the middle of the camp and sat with Snowbird.
"Snowbird, I feel like an idoit. I'm sorry for what I said early, will you ever forgive me?" I said morning.
I stalked back to my den feeling terrible and wonderfull. Snowbird was dead, but she was my Guardian!
