• Explosions rang out like church bells off in the distance as the sky lit up with what seemed like the fires of hell. Mortar shells took flight in waves that made Independence Day seem minuscule, causing an illusion of crows flocking together as they hurtled towards the city. Bullet casings lined the grounds wherever one stepped and blood seemed to be etched into the very heart of this forsaken place. Buildings quaked in fear with every round, preparing for what was to come. The Cathedral collapsed in anguish as it was bombarded from every angle, crushing all faithful inside. Terror crawled its way into every towns person, finding refuge in the very spirits of even the strongest of men. A lone baby wailed on a piece of rubble, clinging to the lifeless body of his mother as though trying to wake her from an endless slumber. Another shell struck firmly on a nearby structure and as it fell the cries were silenced. Dust and steam rolled over a once beautiful town and with it came the aura of death.
