“Alpha 1 this November 6, come in, over.”
He watched the man sneer at him madly, the boy's eyes wafting from his spiteful stare to the barrel of the handgun the man pointed in his face.
    He shivered.
He couldn't see his face, only the outline of his body, the contour of the man's shape; tall and burly, the name tag on his camouflage uniform obscured by the darkness of the corner he'd been backed into.
He'd ran throughout the large complex, the wind whipping at his face as he blinked back tears, running until he'd been cornered between the stone wall and the men who hated him.
The boy panted as sweat blinded him, watching as the man blatantly ignored the call over the radio that buzzed loudly at the man's hip.
“Don't take the subject out, just commandeer him, copy?!” The voice over the radio screamed as the man stood silent then spoke, still holding the gun to the boy's face.
“You thought you could get away, huh?” he screamed as the boy bit his bottom lip, biting back the hateful words he wanted to scream at him as he clenched his fists, backing into the cold concrete wall behind him.
    He'd failed.
    “Alpha 1...come in dammit!”
The man ignored the call once again, tossing the radio aside as he smirked.
The small device flew past the boy's head, the child ducking as it broke above him, the fragments raining down on his head as the man laughed.
“Well....since they know you're missing I can't kill you,” the man fussed as he lowered his gun, placing it in his holster without another word, then stepped forward, smiling down at the child.
He could see the man sneer as he lifted a gloved hand to smooth back his hair, the boy noticing his features.
    Blond hair, blue-green eyed.
    6'2.
    Torn uniform.
    Middle aged, about 40.
“But...” the man huffed as his sneer fell, his raspy voice breaking the boy's thoughts.
“they didn't say I had to bring you back untainted either.”
The child's eyes grew wide as he looked around him for a way to escape, his heart beating loudly in his chest as the man grabbed him by the throat, the child groaning as he was lifted from the ground, the man smiling up at him evilly as he lifted the gagging child to his face.
“Just because you're advanced doesn't mean you're smarter than us REAL humans,” the man spat up at him, as the child struggled to get free, his voice finally finding him as his legs thrashed widly, clawing at the grip on his throat.
“Please...” the boy cried as tears ran down his face, the man laughing at his pitiful cry.
Why did they hate them so much?
He'd been taken away from his mother, who'd watched in horror as they took away her only son, her tear stained face surfacing in the boy's mind as she was held down, reaching for him as she cried in vain.
What did he do to deserve being treated like this?
He'd endured the horrific experiments that'd been put on his body and mind, ones that kept him up all night, waking him with bad dreams, only his sweat soaked sheets to comfort him.
His breath grew short as he huffed, feeling the man tighten his grip as he huffed, tears falling faster down his dirty face as his strength began to waiver, feeling the life slip out of him.
Desperation filled his body as he tried not to black out, knowing what would happen if he did.
    He'd be beaten.
    But...
    What could he...what....
Just as soon as panic gripped his body he felt a wave of calm wash over him, suddenly unafraid as his eyes slowly closed, his hands falling from the grip on his throat.
    Warm...
    It was..warm.
    Calm..soothing...
The man watched the child stop struggling as his smile faded, his eyes on the boy's left hand as a soft green light blinked softly from under the boy's skin, frowning as he dropped the child roughly.
“What..” he sputtered, as the child suddenly inhaled sharply, coughed into the dirt, grabbing at his throat as he hacked and coughed.
As if on cue a bright green light shone brightly for a second, filling the small outside corner of the building with light and blinded the man as the boy tried to stand, his eyes still closed but failed and collapsed, his chest heaving up and down.
The man watched as the light faded almost as suddenlty as it appeared, staring at what he saw once his eyes regained focus.
There was a brown haired girl in front of the boy.
She watched the man with curious purple colored eyes, tilting her head to the side as they made eye contact.
“Hey..who are- AHHH!” he started, his words lost as a sharp pain overtook him, the girl staring at him.
The man sank to his knees as pain after pain ravaged his body, grabbing at his head as he howled in pain, his eyes locked on the fragile looking girl, who watched on unblinkingly.
“Who are you to treat us in such a way?” a voice screamed in his head suddenly, as the boy came too, the man's screams waking him.
He sat up groggily, shaking his head as his vision bounced around.
    What..what had happened?
The man screamed on as the boy watched in terror, his eyes falling on the girl who was dressed like he was, standing slowly.
    Who was she?
“Don't kill me!” the man screamed at the girl, who stood in silence, her eyes locked on him.
“You condemned yourself to death.” the voice echoed in his head as the girl blinked, looking back at the boy.
    She smiled.
“Hello, Cyper.” she said in a small voice, one that matched her appearance.
She was small, looking to be about 4 feet in height, her black hair falling in loose strands around her face ans shoulders.
The orange jumpsuit they both wore clung to her pale skin, making her seem like a ghost in the crude outfit.
Her purple eyes flashed at the man became silent, whimpering ever so often as Cyper stared at her, his eyes darting back and forth.
“How...how do you know my name?”
    She giggled.
“I know a lot about you...I'm Adrian.” she continued, turning toward him.
Cyper's eyes ran past her to the man who lied in a fetal position on the floor, babbling crazily as the girl smiled at him, her face soft and serene.
    “He deserved it.”
“What did you do to him?” Cyper demanded, as the girl's smile faded.
“Why do you care?” she asked, as Cyper paused.
    Why did he care indeed?
This man just tried to kill him.
Her carefree smile crossed her face again as she turned her back to him, walking over to the man, He stared in horror at the happy go lucky girl who was skipping toward him, Adrian pausing as she stood near him. She stopped, watching him with innocent eyes, a soft breeze ruffling her black hair.
"It's time to go, Cyper." she said simply, a dark shadow crossing her eyes as Cyper stared in amazement, hesitaing.
"Go...where?" he asked as she giggled.
"You will find out soon enough."
