• Melissa dove into the bushes. "I see blue hawk, he's on East Maddock headed your way, babay cutiers out."
There was a crackle. "Lissa, why is it you made your code name babay cutiers?"
"It's adorable now shush... no more saying my real name or he'll hear you!"
A shadow appeared over Melissa's crouched form, "Who'll hear you?" asked a male voice.
'Okay, that wasn't Tasha!' "Uh," Melissa said turning to face the boy. "oh." She finished. It was they guy they'd been following the past three days, the new boy. "Just uh, watching." She looked around and spotted her neighbor, "Mr. Laxor cut his lawn." She put on a fake smile.
The boy frowned and followed where she looked, "you're watching an old guy mow his lawn?" He shook his head, "whatever. Who were you just talking to?"
Melissa stared at him, should she rat her best friend out?
    "Natasha VanWell."
"Oh, she's in my trig class, I know her."
"Yes, we were kinda just trying to uh... well you know."
She shook her head up and down as if he'd got it.
"Actually, I don't. My names Ian. I live right down this road in fact. To the house you were looking at just before."
"Oh right, I saw you walking toward it..."
"Till I heard you talking to Natasha that is."
"Riiight." Melissa felt dumb. She wasn't stalking him, she had a good reason for being here. Building the courage to ask Ian to prom.
"Yeah, my name's Melissa. I live right next to Mr. Laxor." She pointed to the side farthest Ian's house.
    "Right."
    "Yeah."
    There was an awkward pause.
"Okay, I'm going home now, have fun." Ian headed to his house and Melissa whispered into the walkie-talkie. "We've been discovered. Mission failed, I'm headed home Tash."
"Alright, meet you there as soon as I get my stuff together."
    "Cool."
